Bandai Namco is Announcing a Brand-New RPG on March 5

Bandai Namco Entertainment surprised fans by teasing that it would unveil a new RPG via a special presentation that will go live on Thursday, March 5. Although Bandai Namco shared brief glimpses at its yet-unnamed RPG project, fans made their guesses as to what the studio’s new RPG could be.

Although the studio is also known for producing games based on popular anime and manga franchises, including Dragon Ball, Naruto, and One Piece, Bandai Namco has also lent its expertise to other IPs. Some examples of the games that Bandai Namco assisted with include Kirby Air Riders and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Along with its work with several established properties, Bandai Namco is also the creator of the Tales franchise, with the highly-rated Tales of Arise being the most recent entry in the RPG series. Tales of Arise: Beyond the Dawn Edition will receive a Switch 2 port on May 22, which includes the Tales of Arise base game and the Beyond the Dawn expansion.

New Dragon Ball Game Might Have Revealed Its Title by Accident

Bandai Namco seemingly confirms a new entry for a fan-favorite Dragon Ball video game series, which was developed with Akira Toriyama’s input.

Bandai Namco Fans Should Circle March 5 on Their Calendars

Despite a busy start to 2026, fans wanting a new Bandai Namco RPG are in luck. Bandai Namco announced on its official social media pages that it will reveal a brand-new RPG on Thursday, March 5, at 6:00 PM Eastern. The new game will have a YouTube Premiere on Bandai Namco’s official YouTube channels across the globe. However, it is currently unclear how long the video premiere will last. Bandai Namco’s social media post about the unnamed RPG project showed a distant tower that blends in with the skies, and some ivy-covered ruins and flowers to the side. The trailer then panned to an unidentified character who carried a sword and a red shield on their back. The character also wore a gray tunic and dark gloves, though nothing else could be gleaned from their appearance.

The timing of Bandai Namco’s new RPG premiere is part of a busy afternoon for gamers across the globe. A Capcom Spotlight presentation will air on March 5 at 5:00 PM Eastern, on YouTube and Twitch. Capcom’s upcoming broadcast will cover various upcoming projects such as Pragmata, Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection, and Street Fighter 6‘s new DLC fighter, Alex. Fans will also be treated to some new information about the upcoming platformer Mega Man: Dual Override, as Capcom confirmed that the winners of the game’s Robot Master design contest would be revealed during the show.

The Capcom Spotlight will last approximately 30 minutes, meaning it will not overlap with Bandai Namco’s RPG reveal. Ergo, fans of both Capcom and Bandai Namco will have back-to-back presentations to watch on Thursday afternoon. March 5 will also be a busy time for the gaming industry across the board. Along with Bandai Namco’s planned reveal, games like Pokemon Pokopia and Marathon will be released, and the highly anticipated Slay the Spire 2 will enter early access.

What Could Bandai Namco’s New RPG Be?

Given that Bandai Namco has not fully shown its hand yet, fans responded to the company’s social media teaser with guesses as to what the new RPG project could be. Several fans speculated that it could be the next entry in the Tales franchise, as some claimed that the franchise was “overdue” for another game. Tales of Arise first launched in 2021, five years after Tales of Berseria first released. Given that Tales of Berseria just received a remaster on February 28, it remains to be seen if Bandai Namco’s new RPG is a Tales game.

However, Bandai Namco still has at least one RPG project in the works, as Digimon Story: Time Stranger will be ported to Nintendo consoles on July 9. The Digimon port will arrive nearly nine months after the game first launched on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. Time will tell what Bandai Namco’s plans are for its new RPG premiere and how the studio’s fans will react.
