Bandai Namco Issues New Official Statement on Future Elden Ring Updates

Elden Ring publisher Bandai Namco Entertainment recently commented on the potential for the game to get more updates. After Elden Ring was released in 2022, the open world epic received a slew of updates both big and small. Some Elden Ring updates focused on fixing bugs and addressing other community concerns, while others added new content for fans to enjoy.

Elden Ring updates played a big role in ensuring the game’s longevity and helping it remain a favorite to this day. Despite being over four years old at this point, Elden Ring has found itself back in the spotlight thanks to the release of the Tarnished Edition for the Nintendo Switch 2, and the Version 1.17 update that was released for the game across all its existing platforms. The patch notes for Elden Ring Version 1.17 include an interesting tidbit at the end that fans may want to take note of.

New $469 Elden Ring Release Confirmed for Winter 2026

Elden Ring fans officially have a new release to look forward to later this year, though it comes with a big $469 price tag.

Elden Ring Will Get More Updates

As noted by Bandai Namco in the official Elden Ring Version 1.17 patch notes, there are plans to “continue to make improvements” to the game. Effectively, this means that fans can look forward to more Elden Ring updates in the future. By the sound of it, these future Elden Ring updates will likely be focused on fixing bugs or addressing balancing issues, so fans shouldn’t expect new content. Still, for those still playing Elden Ring, returning to it to check out the Tarnished Pack DLC, or playing it for the very first time ever on Nintendo Switch 2, it’s reassuring to know that the game will still receive support moving forward.

The reassurance that there will be more Elden Ring updates will likely satisfy some fans, but others may be hungry for a new experience. A new Elden Ring video game has not been announced at the time of this writing, but we do know that a film adaptation is in the works. The Elden Ring movie is being directed by Alex Garland and is scheduled to release on March 3, 2028, courtesy of A24.

While FromSoftware itself may not be working on any new Elden Ring projects, it does have a brand-new game releasing later this year. The Duskbloods is a PvPvE multiplayer game coming exclusively to the Nintendo Switch 2 at some point in the near future. The Duskbloods has drummed up some controversy for its PvP focus, but it’s also the first game directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki since Elden Ring, so there are still high expectations for it.

In any case, there’s reason for Elden Ring fans to jump back into the game. Elden Ring now has two new classes courtesy of the Tarnished Pack DLC (baked-in for Switch 2 users), not to mention a variety of new weapons, customization options, and more. It may not be nearly the substantial new content that was introduced in other premium DLC like the massive Shadow of the Erdtree expansion, but it’s still good enough of an excuse to make a return trip to the Lands Between.
