Battlefield 6 Reveals What’s Coming in Next Update

A Battlefield 6 developer has revealed that the game is set to receive some crucial visibility changes in upcoming updates. As it stands, there are some very specific situations in which player model visibility is really bad in Battlefield 6, and good players are able to exploit this to gain an advantage over others. And while some players will always be better at using the environment to their advantage than others, the current implementation isn’t quite working as intended.

It has been almost two months since the launch of Battlefield 6, and developer Battlefield Studios has been hard at work on fine-tuning the experience while also continuing to execute its seasonal plans. The result has been very frequent game updates for Battlefield 6 and an always-evolving experience that keeps getting better. Battlefield Studios hasn’t been afraid to act on player feedback for Battlefield 6, resulting in a game that the majority of players are happy with.

Battlefield 6 offers a wide variety of soldier skins, including ones that players can earn just by playing the game.

Player Visibility is Being Addressed in Future Battlefield 6 Updates

Over on X, Principal Game Designer on Battlefield 6 Florian Le Bihan acknowledged that player visibility isn’t great in the game at the moment, and confirmed that Battlefield Studios “will be iterating on it for the upcoming updates.” However, players shouldn’t expect it all to be solved overnight. Le Bihan pointed out that visibility won’t be fixed in one single Battlefield 6 update because “there is a lot to look at and it’s a balance to strike between art and gameplay.” This makes sense – there are a ton of fixes that may make players more visible, but don’t necessarily look good. And in a game as stunning as Battlefield 6, that would be a huge shame.

In a follow-up post, Le Bihan detailed a specific scenario in which visibility for Battlefield 6 player models needs to improve. He cited “players that are hard to see in dark areas, particularly when prone,” as a situation that should be resolved in the future. The entire thread was a response to a damning Battlefield 6 clip in which a player was killed by an enemy lying prone in front of a group of trash bags. Admittedly, the player is near-impossible to see, even upon rewatching the footage, so it’s understandable why dying like this would feel immensely frustrating in the moment. And ultimately, if Battlefield 6 is to continue to thrive, the last thing it wants to do is actively annoy players.

The player response to Le Bihan’s posts was actually somewhat mixed. While many gamers were quite happy that player visibility is being addressed in Battlefield 6, equally, there was some argument that dark areas should remain dark. After all, players are able to ping the location of others in Battlefield 6, and spot them for others to see. So, while there are tools players can use to prevent others from hiding in low-visibility areas for long periods, that doesn’t mean the developer shouldn’t try to improve the situation where they can. There’s also the argument that players who take the time to learn the overpowered low-visibility spots should get their reward, but that does risk isolating worse players who don’t know how to deal with this.

On December 9, Battlefield 6 Season 1 will release the last of its offerings with the Ice Lock Empire State event. There’s also a new Ice Climbing Axe melee weapon, giving players a new way to get up close and personal with their enemies. Overall, Battlefield 6 Season 1 has been a success, with the Blackwell Fields and Eastwood maps being the highlight additions. Hopefully, it’s not long before players are given a glimpse at what’s next for the game in Season 2.
