Black Ops 7 Sales Will Beat Battlefield 6

Battlefield 6 is one of the biggest launches that the franchise has seen, but according to a major industry analytics firm, this is still unlikely to save the title from being beaten by upcoming competitor Call of Duty: Black Ops 7. The success of Battlefield 6 has been a high point for the long-running franchise, and as Black Ops 7 creeps closer, the two FPS heavy-hitters are ready to face off in a compelling showdown.

Ahead of Battlefield 6‘s launch, the game boasted a massive player count on Steam during its Open Beta, peaking at a whopping 521,079 participants. In comparison, Black Ops 7‘s recent Open Beta only drew around 99,000 players on Steam, Of course, it’s important to note that Black Ops 7‘s Open Beta was spread across four different consoles and a variety of PC platforms other than Steam, so although the numbers look like they’re in Battlefield 6‘s favor, it’s difficult to get a fully accurate comparison. Battlefield 6 has definitely drawn a lot of positive reception, though, but that may not be enough to rise above Black Ops 7‘s impending sales.

Battlefield 6 Could Still Struggle to Meet Black Ops 7’s Sales Numbers

The prediction comes courtesy of industry insider Alinea Analytics via a report from GameIndustry.biz. While not part of EA or Activision, Alinea Analytics continues to be a trusted source for gaming data. Analyst Rhys Elliott claims that, based on the firm’s data, Battlefield 6 has been the most successful with PC gamers. The FPS has also sold an estimated 10 million copies, which is definitely an impressive feat. However, despite such strong numbers in its first month, Elliott states, “that momentum alone won’t be enough to overturn Call of Duty‘s overall market dominance – this year, at least.”

So far, a Battlefield game has never managed to outsell a Call of Duty title. Elliott notes that the Call of Duty franchise is a “multi-platform powerhouse with a sales base that extends far beyond Steam and the PC market.” Over the years, Battlefield has maintained a strong presence with the PC crowd, but it has yet to reach the same heights as Call of Duty on consoles. Of course, thanks to the positive word-of-mouth that Battlefield 6 is getting, it could mark a turning point for the overall series moving forward, but Elliott makes it clear that this one entry is unlikely to change the tides too drastically. Elliott’s statements that Battlefield 6 won’t outsell Call of Duty “this year, at least” shows that the former has still proven itself as more solid competition now. So, even if Battlefield 6 doesn’t overthrow Black Ops 7, its strong launch could definitely make bigger waves in the future.

There is still always the possibility that Battlefield will eventually topple Call of Duty‘s reign. The launch of Black Ops 7 is only a few days away now, and it will be fascinating to see how the game’s early numbers compare to its main competition. Battlefield 6 truly came out swinging this year, and while there have still been some post-launch bumps, the entry has successfully managed to bounce back from Battlefield 2042‘s divisive legacy. With the launch of its battle royale mode and potentially strong post-launch content, Battlefield 6 shows that the franchise could eventually catch up to Call of Duty, even if not this year.
