Blizzard Announces Multiple Showcases for the Coming Weeks

Blizzard Announces Multiple Showcases for the Coming Weeks

Publisher/developer Blizzard has just announced four separate spotlight showcases that are set to air over the next three weeks. These showcases are being held as part of Blizzard’s 35th anniversary celebrations and will give fans a new look at upcoming content for World of Warcraft, Overwatch, Diablo, and Hearthstone.

Blizzard has a come a long way since its founding in February 1991. Blizzard’s debut title was 1994’s The Death and Return of Superman, a DC-licensed side-scrolling beat-em-up that earned pretty mediocre reviews. Just three months later, Blizzard released Warcraft: Orcs & Humans, a groundbreaking real-time strategy game that quickly cemented the studio’s legacy. Flash forward over three decades and Blizzard is now standing tall as one of the gaming industry’s largest publishers, with a wealth of acclaimed franchises currently sitting under its banner.

  • World of Warcraft — January 29 at 9am PT / 12pm ET
  • Overwatch — February 4 at 10am PT / 1pm ET
  • Hearthstone — February 9 at 9:30am PT / 12:30 ET
  • Diablo — February 11 at 2pm PT / 5pm ET

Blizzard has just announced four spotlight showcases coming in the next few weeks. According to Blizzard’s official announcement, these showcases will be “developer-led spotlights featuring big announcements, sneak peeks, and teases.” Along with new information on each franchise, these spotlights will “celebrate the artists, makers, and visionaries” behind the games, all as part of Blizzard’s 35th anniversary celebrations.

The first spotlight showcase is World of Warcraft‘s ‘State of Azeroth’ stream, which will air on January 29. This spotlight will see WoW Executive Producer Holly Longdale and Senior Game Director Ion Hazzikostas discuss the future of the iconic MMO. Official roadmaps for both World of Warcraft and WoW Classic will be shown during the stream, and those who tune in to watch will learn how to unlock an exclusive piece of housing decor. With World of Warcraft‘s ‘Midnight’ expansion set to release on March 2, it’s likely to be a focal point of the January 29 spotlight.

On February 4, Overwatch is set to receive a spotlight stream. No official information has been given for this showcase, but it may have something to do with the start of a recent marketing campaign. On January 23, the Overwatch X account was “taken over” by Talon, the in-universe antagonist organization. It seems likely Overwatch‘s upcoming spotlight will reveal what this Talon takeover means for the future of the hero shooter.

Just a few days later, on February 9, Hearthstone will be getting its own spotlight showcase. Despite being over a decade old, Hearthstone still receives regular content updates. In fact, Hearthstone is gearing up for its biggest competitive year yet, with Blizzard hosting three Masters Tour Championships in 2026 on top of the World Championship at BlizzCon.

Last up to bat is Diablo, which will receive a ’30th Anniversary Spotlight’ on February 11. While fans can probably expect to see more information regarding Diablo 4‘s upcoming 12th season and its ‘Lord of Hatred’ expansion, the title of this stream does suggest that there could be a larger look at the Diablo franchise as a whole, rather than just a spotlight focusing on Diablo 4.

Reactions surrounding Blizzard’s announcement of four showcases have been largely positive, though some fans have expressed their disappointment that StarCraft seems to have been forgotten about once again, with the franchise having laid dormant for almost a decade at this point. That said, at the start of this year, Windows Central’s Jez Corden reported that the long-rumored StarCraft shooter could appear at BlizzCon 2026.
