Borderlands 4 ‘Doable’ On Switch 2 But Not The Priority ATM

Borderlands 4 ‘Doable’ On Switch 2 But Not The Priority ATM

Borderlands 4 was supposed to be one of the Switch 2’s big launch-year third-party ports. Instead, it was delayed at the last minute and is currently on pause. Take Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said releasing the game on Switch 2 is “doable,” but the Nintendo platform still isn’t one of the “primary” consoles the Gearbox Entertainment owner is worried about.

“We want to be wherever the consumer is, and we’ve supported Switch 2,” Zelnick said in a new interview with Game File. “You can tell from what we are doing and what we’re not doing that our primary console platforms remain Sony and Microsoft.”

That certainly makes it sound like Grand Theft Auto 6 won’t be getting ported to Switch 2 anytime soon either. Some players there have remained hopeful that the most anticipated game ever would eventually arrive on Nintendo’s handheld hybrid.

But Borderlands 4 still might. Zelnick told Game File the “pause” on the port’s development wasn’t code for canceled, and that Gearbox is focusing on fixing all of the player complaints on other platforms first. “We’ve been addressing those challenges, and we want to make sure that we’ve fully addressed Borderlands 4 from a consumer’s point of view before we bring it to more platforms,” he said.

It’s good to know the holdup isn’t technical, even if it’s still unclear when Borderlands 4 will eventually arrive on Switch 2.
