Borderlands 4 Holiday Event Has Absurd Legendary Drop Dates

Borderlands 4 Holiday Event Has Absurd Legendary Drop Dates

Borderlands 4 has launched its new Season’s Lootings holiday event, featuring some pretty absurd drop rates for Legendary loot until January 8, 2026. Players can hop in now and take advantage of the opportunity to get some of Borderlands 4‘s Legendary items at a much quicker rate than before. Gearbox has also made three Big Encore Bosses active at the same time, giving the development team time to relax during the holiday season.

Since the launch of Borderlands 4, Gearbox has tried to keep up with the live-service elements of the game, with frequent in-game events to keep players returning to Kairos. Some would say it’s been to mixed effect so far – the game has suffered dwindling player counts from its strong launch, leading some to question whether the developer had taken the right approach with Borderlands 4. In particular, BL4‘s Halloween event came in for particular criticism, with players feeling that Gearbox had introduced a boring grind for what was ultimately not very worthwhile rewards. Hopefully, the new holiday event will send it the other way and take away a lot of the grind from one area of Borderlands 4.

Borderlands 4 fans can claim a new SHiFT code until December 23, with three Golden Keys up for grabs.

Borderlands 4 Season’s Lootings Event Increases Legendary Drop Rate By Up To 5x

In an announcement on Steam, Gearbox confirmed that the new Borderlands 4 holiday event, titled Season’s Lootings, is available now in-game until January 8, 2026. While Season’s Lootings is active, players will be 5x more likely to receive a Borderlands 4 Legendary drop, with the exception of Big Encore Bosses and Bloomreaper. This means that now is the perfect time for any players who still have their eye on a particular Legendary item to round off their perfect build, to jump in-game and get farming. It could even be good for gamers who know what their next character is going to be, and farming the Legendaries in advance to avoid the grind outside the Season’s Lootings window. Although “up to 5x more likely” feels like a pretty absurd Legendary drop rate, Gearbox insists that they “will still be infrequent enough to feel special, in keeping with our overall design intent.”

To close out the year in terms of minor updates, Gearbox has also added a triple threat of Big Encore Bosses in Borderlands 4 to carry players through to January 8, with three True Bosses active at once. This is to allow the Borderlands 4 team to take some well-earned time off for the holiday season, with the weekly rotation of bosses resuming as normal from January 8. This goes for the usual Thursday change to Weekly Activities, too. Gearbox says that from now, Weekly Activities will not be switched out until the team returns in the new year. Some time off is certainly fair, especially with all the upcoming hard work for the planned Borderlands 4 content in 2026. As well as the above changes, the new Borderlands 4 minor update has one other change, fixing an exploit where Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode rewards could be claimed in non-UVHM Bloomreaper fights.

2026 is set to be a massive year for Borderlands 4. Although the player count may be falling, that doesn’t quite tell the full story. Many gamers have already completed their first playthrough of the game, and are looking for a great reason to return. Small events are great for existing players, but big content drops are really what is going to bring gamers back into the fold. Next year, Gearbox is releasing Borderlands 4‘s first new Vault Hunter, C4SH, alongside Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned. This is planned to be the first Story Pack for Borderlands 4, which should help reinvigorate interest in Gearbox’s latest looter-shooter.
