Gearbox is utilizing its SHiFT code system once again to gift a free reward to all Borderlands 4 players, though they’ll need to act fast as the offer will expire on December 31, 2025, right before the new year arrives. After launching back in 2012, Gearbox has used its SHiFT website to reward players with all sorts of things, from cosmetic items to special Golden Keys that unlocked random gear in many of its games. Most recently, Gearbox has kept Borderlands 4 players stocked up with new keys to claim weapons and other items.
Although Borderlands 4 has seen plenty of ups and downs since it launched back in September, Gearbox has continued to pump out new content to players, whether in the form of new updates or limited-time events. For the holiday season, Gearbox surprised players by making the first Borderlands 4 Bounty Pack free for everyone. How Rush Saved Mercenary Day gives players a new holiday quest line to follow, loot to earn, and a new villain to farm in the form of Mister Screw. As part of the end of year celebrations, Gearbox is continuing to offer free rewards to all players.

Borderlands 4 Children of the Vex SHiFT Code

As part of its 12 Days of Mercenary Day celebration, Gearbox Software gave to all Borderlands 4 players a new SHiFT code to redeem for a special Vault Hunter Skin. The Day 2 reward is known as the Children of the Vex skin and is available to apply to all four of Borderlands 4‘s current Vault Hunters. While the image only shows Vex featured, it’s likely the Siren-inspired colorway for each of the other characters, so expect plenty of purple and red. It’s worth noting that the code can only be redeemed once per account and will expire on December 31, so players have a limited time to claim it.
The latest SHiFT code follows the initial start of the 12 Days of Mercenary Day and the first Borderlands 4 giveaway. Similar to the Children of the Vex skin, players have until December 31 to claim the ECHO-4 skin known as A Winter Borderland, which seems to outfit the companion a nearly all white appearance, with light touches of an icy blue color as well. Interested players should continue to follow the official account as there are still 10 days of rewards set to be revealed.
How to Redeem Borderlands 4 SHiFT Codes
- Visit the SHiFT website and log in to your SHiFT account or create a new one if needed.
- Under “Gaming Platforms”, double check that your SHiFT account is linked to your gaming account.
- Open the “Rewards” tab.
- Now, enter the new SHiFT code underneath the “Code Redemption” header. When prompted, select the platform that you want to redeem the code on, depending on the gaming accounts linked to the SHiFT account.
Seasonal rewards like this aren’t anything new for Gearbox Software, as the studio typically times SHiFT codes to go out alongside special events in its games like Borderlands 3. While the Halloween-inspired Horrors of Kairos may not have been what many fans wanted from a Borderlands 4 limited-time event, it did bring with it another special SHiFT code cosmetic. The Gourd Your Loins headgear let players equip a large headpiece of a jack-o-lantern with a machete sticking out of it on their Vault Hunter.

While things may be winding down for Borderlands 4 in 2025 after the launch of the “Invincible” boss Bloomreaper, Gearbox has a lot more planned for 2026. Revealed in a previous Borderlands 4 DLC roadmap, Bounty Pack 2 is set for launch sometime in Q1 of 2026, promising new skins, a vehicle, missions, as well as a Vault Card which contains even more unlockable content. For many players, the biggest piece of Q1 2026 is the launch of Story Pack 1. Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned is likely the closest to a full-fledged expansion that Borderlands 4 players will see, adding new story missions, side quests, gear, and the first post-launch vault hunter known as C4SH.
