Five Nights at Freddy’s is officially coming to Fortnite. On October 1, Fortnite will finally receive a dedicated crossover with beloved horror gaming franchise Five Nights at Freddy‘s, which is set to bring a handful of long-awaited skins to the free-to-play battle royale.
For years, fans have been asking Epic Games to partner with Five Nights at Freddy’s. While it always felt like a FNAF x Fortnite collaboration was on the cards, the long-desired partnership had taken so long that many fans believed it to be a pipe dream. That was until last month, when eagle-eyed Fortnite players noticed a very familiar building in-game. Just north of The Battlewoods stands a building mid-construction, one that bears a striking resemblance to the Freddy Fazbear Pizzeria from the live-action Five Nights at Freddy’s movies.
Fortnite x Five Nights at Freddy’s Crossover Begins October 1
A month after fans first noticed a possible tease towards the long-awaited Fortnite x Five Nights at Freddy‘s crossover, Epic Games has officially confirmed the collaboration via a 40-second teaser trailer. This crossover announcement trailer begins with a handful of Fortnite player-characters heading inside the building mentioned above, which has in fact been turned into a Freddy Fazbear Pizzeria. These characters are then immediately stalked by the iconic FNAF animatronics through the interior of the pizzeria, with the trailer showcasing plenty of jump scares that feel ripped right out of the popular horror franchise.

Five Nights at Freddy’s is officially joining Fortnite on October 1, coming alongside the major Fortnitemares update. Epic Games hasn’t officially confirmed just what this Fortnite x Five Nights at Freddy‘s crossover will include, but based solely on the trailer, it seems fans are getting at least four skins inspired by the horror series, those being Freddy, Bonnie, Chica, and Foxy. A few FNAF-themed Back Blings are also teased in the trailer, with one themed around Freddy and one themed around Bonnie.
The new Freddy Fazbear Pizzeria POI will undoubtedly take center stage in the upcoming Fortnite x FNAF crossover, but aside from that, it’s unclear what other FNAF-themed gameplay content could be included in the collaboration. The announcement trailer’s YouTube description mentions players needing to face off against “animatronic animal bosses,” which could suggest that Freddy and the rest of the gang will appear as in-game bosses as well as paid skins.
Technically beginning all the way back in 2017 in Fortnite Chapter 1 Season 1, Fortnitemares has remained one of the game’s most beloved annual events. Given its Halloween theming, Fortnitemares has often been used as a way to introduce new horror-focused collaborations. Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 8, for instance, added The Walking Dead‘s Rick Grimes and Resident Evil‘s Jill Valentine, while last year’s Fortnitemares event added Scream‘s Ghost Face and Friday the 13th‘s Jason Voorhees.
