PlayStation 5 gamers have a new open-world co-op game to play on November 5. PlayStation 5 has its fair share of open-world games, including quite a few co-op entries. Oftentimes, the biggest and most popular open-world games are single-player adventures, and when they’re co-op, they usually fit into a specific box.
Many of the open-world co-op games on PS5 are survival games, like the recently-released Enshrouded or Valheim, which finally saw its 1.0 release after years in early access. So, whenever something comes out that offers something a little different for PS5 gamers looking for an open-world co-op experience, it catches our attention. Especially so if that game features local co-op as an option, which is exactly the case with the new game coming to PS5 on November 5.
Escape Academy 2 is an Open World With Online and Local Co-Op

On Thursday, November 5, PS5 gamers can look forward to playing a new open-world co-op experience in the form of Escape Academy 2: Back 2 School. The original Escape Academy was a fun puzzle game, and so chances are Escape Academy 2 will be a solid time as well. The new game claims that it is the “first open world escape room game,” and it can be played entirely in co-op with a friend. Escape Academy 2 co-op supports both online and split-screen, so gamers can play co-op however they’d like. Too many co-op games nowadays completely skip having any kind of local co-op option, so it’s greatly appreciated that Escape Academy 2: Back 2 School has split-screen.
Gamers interested in Escape Academy 2 should note that it’s not just releasing on PS5. The game will also be available on Steam and Xbox. In fact, Escape Academy 2 is going to be a day one Game Pass game when it releases on November 5. The original Escape Academy was also on Game Pass, so it makes sense for the sequel to follow suit. Unfortunately, a Nintendo Switch 2 version of Escape Academy 2 has not been announced at the time of this writing, but since the original game is available on the Switch, one has to imagine that it’s just a matter of time before the sequel comes to Switch 2.
Escape Academy 2 is going to be a great option for PS5 gamers looking for a new open-world co-op game to play. And when it comes to the new PS5 games releasing in November, Escape Academy 2 is just the tip of the iceberg. There are a variety of new PS5 games releasing this month, including the return of some nostalgic licensed games like Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee Remastered, DreamWorks Shrek 2: Remastered, and Barbie Rewind.
Escape Academy 2 also isn’t the only new open-world game releasing for PS5 in November. The biggest new PS5 game this month is far and away Grand Theft Auto 6, which is set to bring its open world to PS5 gamers on November 19. Grand Theft Auto 6 doesn’t have co-op, and its online multiplayer functionality isn’t expected to arrive until next year, but it will have one of the biggest open worlds of all time. PS5 gamers can play Escape Academy 2 to help tide them over while they wait for GTA 6 to finally release.
