A new PC game deal can net gamers more than 100 games for just $10, and best of all, the proceeds go to a good cause: supporting laid off game developers. The game collection is only available for a limited time, so those who are interested in picking up a ton of PC games for cheap or helping those impacted by layoffs in the industry should make sure to act quickly.
Fundraising and charity bundles like these are fairly common, and give gamers an opportunity to try out a bunch of games at a low cost. These opportunities also help game developers, even when they’re not supporting members of the industry directly, as these bundles often include indie games that gamers might never have known about if not for their inclusion.
PC Gamers Can Get Over 100 Games for Just $10
A new bundle is being offered that can get gamers over 100 games from 109 different developers for just $10. The estimated value of the bundle is $1,023, making it an incredible deal. The offer is being led by Demonschool developer Necrosoft Games, which is raising money to support those who have lost their jobs in the game industry. Necrosoft Games says that 33% of those who work in the game industry have lost their jobs in just two years, and points out that companies are trying to use AI to fill those roles, in some instances. The bundle will be available until August 13, and at the time of publication, has raised $9,000 out of a total goal of $100,000. The funds will be distributed to out-of-work developers in the US and Canada.

As indicated by the fundraiser, the last few years have been terrible for game developers as a whole. Numerous game development studios have been closed and games have been canceled over the last few years. In some cases, developers have even been laid off despite the games they worked on becoming huge hits. Unfortunately, the situation has been bad enough that many game developers have simply exited the field entirely, as finding a job in the industry with things as they are now has been impossible for many.
While the bundle can’t fully replace the income of those who have lost their jobs, it may help many to get by until they can find work again. While gamers can donate $10 and get the entire bundle, they can also choose to donate more, with the current average donation sitting at about $20. The current highest donation is $2,000, showing how much the cause means to some who are able to provide that level of support.
At this time, it’s not clear if or when the video game industry will rebound to the way that it used to be. Thankfully, though, not every developer has been left out in the cold. Some studios have rolled out improvements for their workers over the last few years, like Atlus, while studios behind games like Crimson Desert have given big bonuses to their developers to thank them for their hard work. While this sadly isn’t the industry standard, it may give developers some hope to know that gamers want to support them and that there are at least some studios that give their workers the respect they deserve.
