The still-unannounced Marvel Project Comet has reared its head once more. This time, a full gameplay trailer for Marvel Project Comet has leaked, showcasing third-person combat from heroes like Doctor Strange, Wolverine, Spider-Man, and Black Widow.
It’s already been a busy year for Marvel video games. Arc System Works’ Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls released in August to critical acclaim, and Marvel’s Wolverine followed it just a month later, though it didn’t receive nearly as warm of a reception. The year isn’t through, however. While the future of Arkane’s Blade is still unclear following Xbox’s mass layoffs, EA Motive’s Iron Man game seems to be shaping up nicely, and Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra currently has a general release window of 2027. And now it seems a mobile Marvel game could be closer than expected.
Marvel Project Comet Gets a Leaked Trailer
Sometime last month, an unannounced Marvel game known only as ‘Project Comet’ had its first trailer leaked online. This unfinished trailer seems to have first been posted to Chinese video-sharing platform Bilibili, but it’s since appeared across TikTok and YouTube. Twitter user SargeOP is responsible for sharing the Marvel Project Comet trailer most recently.
The minute-and-a-half Marvel Project Comet trailer begins with a splash-screen that confirms the game will be a “next-gen mobile ARPG.” As the seemingly unfinished voiceover tells viewers that The Fantastic Four have disappeared following a fight with Galactus, a handful of iconic Marvel heroes and locations are shown in quick succession, all sporting a Marvel Rivals-like art style. Scarlet Witch, Doctor Strange, Elektra, Wolverine, and War Machine are given flashy introductions before the camera pans back to show off some third-person gameplay.
A splash-screen confirms that Marvel Project Comet will feature 4-player co-op, and some in-game combat is shown, with Doctor Strange, Wolverine, and Spider-Man performing some visually impressive attacks on non-existent enemies. Black Widow is then abruptly revealed, before the camera cuts to Spider-Man actually taking on some bad guys with a full controller interface on-screen, seemingly confirming a touch-screen control scheme similar to the ones found in games like Genshin Impact and Wuthering Waves. After a glimpse of a boss fight with X-Men villain Blob, the trailer comes to a sudden end, indicating that it’s clearly incomplete in its current state.
Below the trailer, SargeOP also provides a screenshot of a recent Scopely job listing, suggesting that the “new AAA unannounced and groundbreaking title with a popular IP” directly mentioned in the listing is in fact Marvel Project Comet. While all rumors should always be taken with a hefty pinch of salt, this is far from the first time Marvel Project Comet has leaked online. Back in June, Twitter user MultiverSusie shared a now-deleted post that revealed concept art and in-game animations of Marvel Project Comet. There have been several leaks since, most of which suggest that Marvel Project Comet will be a gacha game, where players use in-game currency to unlock loot boxes containing playable heroes that are divided into rarity tiers.
