Build-a-Bear has unveiled its latest Pokemon plush, Munchlax, an incredibly popular baby form from Pokemon Diamond and Pearl. A few years after celebrating its 25th anniversary with a female Pikachu plush, the company has chosen the perfect moment to surprise fans with another beloved character that will delight any Pokemon Diamond and Pearl enthusiast.
In 2019, Snorlax joined Build-a-Bear’s Pokemon plush lineup with an exclusive bundle that included an adorable sleeper. Due to its immense popularity among fans, Snorlax quickly became one of the most successful Pokemon-themed toys the company has made. The only downside was that Snorlax plushies quickly went out of stock, leaving thousands of fans eagerly awaiting a restocking. Five years later, Build-a-Bear seems to be aiming to recreate that excitement by introducing this sleepy Pokemon’s always-hungry baby form.

Build-a-Bear has announced its latest Pokemon plush from Gen 4, which is none other than Munchlax, the baby form of Snorlax. For those curious, Munchlax is a Normal-Type Pokemon that was first introduced in Pokemon Diamond and Pearl. This beloved creature is currently available as an online-exclusive bundle for $66 on Build-a-Bear’s website. The Munchlax bundle includes a Heavy Ball Hoodie, a Tamato Berry Wristie, and a thematic bib. Additionally, the plush toy comes with a 5-in-1 sound chip that plays different voice lines, a notable upgrade since Build-a-Bear’s Charizard plush lacked a sound chip despite its high price.
Prospective buyers should note that Build-a-Bear’s online store will only offer the Munchlax bundle, and the included items won’t be shipped separately. Fans who don’t want to pay extra for accessories might need to visit a Build-a-Bear store to purchase the plush alone for about $32. It is also worth noting that the company is hosting a Pokemon Special Event, discounting most Pokemon-themed plushies. For example, Bidoof, another Build-a-Bear plush from Pokemon Diamond and Pearl, is available for about $58.
Fuecoco Is Teased as the Next Build-a-Bear Pokemon Plush
Pokemon fans have also spotted a clue in Build-a-Bear’s Munchlax launch video that may hint at the next plush in the lineup. Toward the end of the teaser trailer, the silhouette of another popular Pokemon appears, which is most likely Fuecoco. While Build-a-Bear hasn’t confirmed this, Pokemon plush lovers are already excited about the possibility of this beloved companion joining the collection. Fuecoco won’t be the first Build-a-Bear plush Pokemon from Scarlet and Violet; in 2023, the company debuted its Scarlet and Violet lineup with Sprigatito. Nonetheless, Fuecoco seems to be a welcome addition to the roster of adorable plushies.
