Bygone Serenity Officially Confirmed for May 2027

Final Fantasy 14 has grown far beyond the traditional boundaries of a long-running MMO, with its world now spanning expansions, characters, music, concerts, collectibles, and plenty of merchandise. Square Enix has continued to find ways to keep every location in Eorzea and its many adventures outside the game itself. Some are particularly meaningful because they are tied to locations and moments that left a lasting impression on Final Fantasy 14 players.

Final Fantasy 14‘s Dawntrail expansion introduced players to plenty of new places and characters, but its later story moments also revisited themes of memory, loss, and the desire to preserve the past. Those ideas became especially important as players explored the final areas of the expansion, where music and atmosphere played a major role in establishing the emotional weight of what was happening. Now, Square Enix is preparing to bring one of those musical experiences to fans in a new physical release.

Most Final Fantasy releases are known by everyone, but a few near-perfect games have slipped through the cracks of time.

Final Fantasy 14: Bygone Serenity is officially confirmed for May 2027, giving fans a firm release window for the upcoming collectible music box. Square Enix has listed the product for pre-order through its official store, with the item currently scheduled to release in May 2027. While that date is still several months away, the confirmation gives collectors a much clearer idea of when they can expect the latest Final Fantasy 14 merchandise to arrive.

Bygone Serenity is an 18-note music box inspired by Living Memory, the memorable location from Final Fantasy 14: Dawntrail. The music box features Sphene’s tiara silhouette printed across the top of its case, tying its physical design directly to the characters and setting associated with the song. It measures approximately 61mm wide, 53mm deep, and 40mm high, making it a relatively small collectible despite the emotional weight attached to its source material.

The product is currently listed at £24.99 (roughly ~$28 USD) through the Square Enix Store and is available to pre-order ahead of its May 2027 release. The case is made from acrylic resin, while the music-box mechanism uses iron and zinc, with the mechanism producing the 18-note arrangement. For fans who connected with Living Memory and its music, the appeal is less about having another piece of Final Fantasy 14 merchandise and more about owning a physical reminder of one of Dawntrail’s most memorable locations (and one of its most emotionally loaded songs).

With Final Fantasy continuing to expand its collection of merchandise, Bygone Serenity gives Square Enix another way to preserve a small part of the game’s musical history. The May 2027 release date means collectors still have some time before it arrives, but the official confirmation gives fans a concrete date to look forward to. For those who want a little piece of the Living Memory zone outside the game, this particular music box should be arriving next spring.
