Co-Op PS5 Game Will Include the Beloved Friends Pass

Co-Op PS5 Game Will Include the Beloved Friends Pass

One of the most highly-anticipated horror releases of 2026 has just bolstered audience hype even further, as developer Tarsier Studios confirms that Reanimal will offer a Friend’s Pass, meaning only one player has to purchase the game while a co-op partner can join for free. Reanimal can be enjoyed as a single-player journey, but for those wanting to bring along some back-up to delve into the twisted psychological horrors of the latest game from the creators of Little Nightmares, the inclusion of a Friend’s Pass will make the game that much more accessible for a duo experience.

Other co-op games like It Takes Two and Split Fiction from Hazelight Studios, as well as the 2025 release Lego Voyagers, beloved party games such as The Jackbox Party Pack, and online card games including Exploding Kittens 2 have offered a Friend’s Pass or similar play format wherein only a single user needs to purchase the full game while others can join for free. This Friend’s Pass structure has been praised for making it easier and cheaper for players to enjoy co-op gaming with their friends, particularly in video games like Split Fiction where they can only be played in co-op mode. While Reanimal is looking to draw in plenty of solo horror fans, a number of gamers who prefer having a friend along on the perilous adventure can rest easy knowing that Friend’s Pass is coming to Tarsier’s next release.

New Horror Game on Steam is Like Little Nightmares with a Magical Twist

This newly released horror game on Steam blends the surrealist aesthetics of Little Nightmares with a refreshing magical twist.

Reanimal Friend’s Pass Makes it Easier to Play in Co-op

Set to launch for PlayStation 5, PC, Nintendo Switch 2, and Xbox Series X|S on February 13, Reanimal will once again transport players into a dark and disturbing world, this time asking fans to help guide a brother and sister duo on a rescue mission to locate missing companions and escape from a hellish island riddled with horrific secrets. Reanimal offers a similar gameplay experience and visual design to Tarsiers’ Little Nightmares 1 and 2, though the addition of an optional co-op mode with a shared, directed camera aims to increase the claustrophobic tension and create a wholly unique journey for fans of atmospheric horror games. The “broken, yet resilient” child characters will need to avoid the clutches of monstrous new enemies that seek to torment the would-be escapees, pushing players to overcome the direst of circumstances and battle beyond desperation in a search for hope.

Some of the early trailers for Reanimal have offered a sneak peek at some of the horrific monsters awaiting players, with a grotesque animal carcass amalgamation with the head of a goat quickly grabbing horror fans’ attention. Despite Tarsier’s previous releases balancing blatant horror with uncanny whimsy, Reanimal seems to be going in a very different direction, focusing much more heavily on the drab. The overall tone of Reanimal feels more imposing and oppressive, and if the game itself proves to be even darker than its earliest teasers, it should come as no surprise that Tarsier is helping to make bringing a friend along for the harrowing journey an even easier option.

Reanimal Reveal Trailer Slithering monster

While some diehard horror fans may question just how scary a game can be when there is another player offering support, some of the best co-op horror games of all time, such as Obscure and Sons of the Forest, prove that enough tension and well-designed enemies can easily break down the comfort of a plus one and still bring plenty of terror. With expectations high for Reanimal and its seemingly even more disturbing approach than Little Nightmares, many are hopeful that both the single-player and co-op experiences will make their mark in modern horror history.
