Apex Legends Season 31: Cipher is bringing some major changes to the popular battle royale game, including a complete rework of Crypto, buffs to Revenant and Lifeline, and a new way to use one of the game’s most popular weapons. Apex Legends Season 31 launches on November 3 at 10 AM PT/1 PM ET.

Crypto is getting the most significant changes, but Revenant and Lifeline are receiving some noteworthy improvements of their own. Meanwhile, the Wingman is getting an entirely new firing option, and Strongholds are being introduced as another way for squads to fight over valuable loot. There’s quite a bit happening here, with several of these additions potentially changing how players approach their favorite characters in Apex Legends.

Apex Legends Season 31 List of Changes (Including Crypto’s Rework)

Crypto is receiving a major rework in Apex Legends, with Respawn making some fundamental changes to his Surveillance Drone and EMP Ultimate. The goal is to make Crypto a more aggressive Legend, allowing him to gather information without spending as much time sitting back and controlling his drone.

  • His drone’s new Sentry Mode will automatically tag enemies in its line of sight, sharing that information with teammates.
  • The drone now operates on batteries instead of the previous cooldown-based system, allowing players to retrieve and redeploy it without lengthy waits.
  • Crypto can now activate his EMP Ultimate with a single button press, making it easier to use during combat.

Revenant and Lifeline are also getting some love this season. Revenant’s Tactical and Ultimate abilities are receiving shorter cooldowns, while his new upgrades allow players to extend his Ultimate with every knockdown, silence enemies after using Shadow Pounce, or automatically refresh Shadow Pounce when an enemy is marked. Lifeline, meanwhile, will have a shorter cooldown on her D.O.C. healing drone and can now heal herself while gliding. Her upgrades include improved flight mobility, a reduced Ultimate cooldown, and the return of Lifeline’s Revive Shield.

Beyond the character changes, Apex Legends Season 31 is introducing the Akimbo Wingman. The Wingman has traditionally rewarded precision and accurate shooting, but the new option brings additional burst-fire potential to the revolver (and a pretty substantial change to how it can be used). Strongholds are another major addition, essentially expanding on the concept of IMC Armories by giving players high-risk locations to raid for valuable loot. These contain crate weapons, corrupted attachments, and EVO for the entire squad, but there’s a catch: opening a Stronghold takes time and triggers an alarm.

There’s plenty more coming to Apex Legends Season 31, but the changes to Crypto, Revenant, and Lifeline are likely to be among the most immediately noticeable. Ultimately, Season 31 looks to be another significant shake-up for the popular BR, with Respawn continuing to revisit older mechanics and bringing out the most of its existing Apex Legends roster instead of relying entirely on new content.
