Crimson Desert Hears Your Complaints And Will Fix The Controls

Crimson Desert Hears Your Complaints And Will Fix The Controls

Regardless of whether you love, hate, or are otherwise indifferent to Crimson Desert, it’s fair to say the game has its problems. Chief among these complaints is the game’s control scheme, as the Crimson Desert features several unintuitive and downright baffling input options. Thankfully, the developers at Pearl Abyss have heard your complaints and have announced that they’re “currently preparing a patch” to address them.

“Since launch, we have been listening closely to your feedback and doing our best to make improvements to the game,” reads Pearl Abyss’s notice. “In particular, we are aware of the discomfort many players have experienced with the controls, and we are currently preparing a patch to address this.”

There are lots of odd control scheme choices in Crimson Desert, to the point that there are too many to feasibly list. If you want a good example of the issue in a microcosm, though, CohhCarnage’s video is probably the first place I’d want Pearl Abyss to start, because there’s something awfully unnatural about hitting both a shoulder button and a trigger simultaneously for a single attack.

Pearl Abyss’s notice also apologised for not providing a “satisfactory” control scheme for PC players, too. “We also want to apologize for not providing keyboard and mouse players with a satisfactory gameplay experience. Please know we are taking your feedback seriously and working to improve your gameplay experience as quickly as possible.”

Apparently, that’s because Crimson Desert’s keyboard and mouse controls are equally weird. PC Gamer notes that binding sprint to the Shift key was an odd decision, as you’re required to mash it to go faster, which will likely “destroy your pinky over the course of a multi-hundred-hour action RPG” and also definitely trigger Sticky Keys.

However, while the notice did state that Pearl Abyss is “listening closely” to everyone’s feedback, it did also strangely not feature any mention of the alleged AI art that players discovered in Crimson Desert over the past 24 hours. Perhaps, instead, Pearl Abyss is hoping that it can be quietly patched out instead of drawing any more attention to it. Guess we’ll have to wait and see if it’s still there once the control scheme update drops in the near future.
