This article contains minor spoilers for Crimson Desert Chapter 11.Crimson Desert players are calling for Pearl Abyss to add a fell beast-style dragon mount that was initially teased in one of the game’s trailers. This mount was cut from Crimson Desert for unknown reasons, but players are adamant they’d like to see it return in the future.
In a game of Crimson Desert‘s size and scope, it’s inevitable that not everything is going to make it into the final product. Cut content is standard for any RPG, and remnants of this can often be found in early promotional material. Features can be cut for any number of reasons, from time and budget constraints to simply not fitting the developer’s vision anymore.
Latest Crimson Desert Update Made Important Quality-of-Life Change Not Mentioned in the Patch Notes
Crimson Desert players notice an important quality-of-life change that wasn’t mentioned in the game’s most recent patch notes.
Crimson Desert Players Want to See the Forgotten Dragon Mount Return
In Crimson Desert‘s release window trailer from December 2024, Pearl Abyss offered a glimpse at Kliff riding a fell beast-style dragon mount, gliding from the skies, and raining fire from above. This beast has been omitted from the final product, as was noted in a thread by Redditor LScoppa-2001, who wondered what had happened to it after its initial tease. Some felt that the Crimson Desert community and its desire for more pets and mounts could lead to it being re-added further down the line. There was plenty of disappointment throughout the thread, with one gamer saying they wanted it specifically because it gave them “Fellowship of the Ring vibes.”
While this specific dragon is not included as a mount, it should be noted that players can unlock a different dragon mount in Crimson Desert. During Chapter 11 of the main storyline, players get access to Blackstar, which has a 50-minute cooldown after it has been active for 15 minutes. Functionally, this mount is very similar to the one seen in the early Crimson Desert trailer, but some users in the thread felt that it was actually the cooler of the two, which is why they’re so disappointed it isn’t in the game.
Much of the thread’s discussion was actually pretty hopeful that Pearl Abyss could add this dragon back into the game in the future. The developer has been very quick to respond to player feedback with extensive Crimson Desert updates, which so far have been a mixture of new content and bug fixes. That said, it’s certainly possible that the studio revisits the game’s cut content, too. Still, players will just have to wait and see exactly what approach it decides to take, especially if it was removed simply because Pearl Abyss didn’t feel it fit with the rest of the game or diminished the reward of Blackstar further down the line.

It has been over a month now since the release of Crimson Desert, and Pearl Abyss is showing no signs of slowing down with updates to the game. The developer has yet to reveal what the next major update will feature. Crimson Desert has already come a long way since launch, and player counts for the game remain stable, despite being a single-player game, which typically tend to drop off quickly after release.
