Crimson Desert Updates Won’t Slow Down Ahead Of Big DLC

Crimson Desert Updates Won’t Slow Down Ahead Of Big DLC

It’s hard to believe Crimson Desert only came out a little over two months ago. That’s mostly because of the rapid pace of post-launch updates. It’s almost scary to see what Pearl Abyss has accomplished over the last 70 days. And it doesn’t sound like the studio is planning to take its foot off the gas anytime soon. A new preview outlines its goals for the next four months alongside its ongoing commitment to deliver “a meaningful addition” to the open-world action-adventure in the form of a future DLC.

“Our updates to Pywel do not end with the content and features listed below,” the team wrote in a new blog post. “We are also hard at work on an upcoming DLC for Crimson Desert, and while we cannot share the details just yet, we are preparing it as a meaningful addition to your journey. We will share more details in the future, so stay tuned.”

So what’s coming in the meantime? Well, between June and September, Pearl Abyss is promising further tweaks to the game’s story, new combat content, and additional quality-of-life improvements. Here’s what the team teased:

  • We are working to refine and improve the coherence of key scenes.
  • Changes are planned for Re-Blockade. A new phase is being developed to make the flow before and after a blockade more natural, along with ways to defend certain strongholds from the threat of invasion. Rewards will also be improved to make the process of liberating strongholds feel more rewarding.
  • A new combat-focused content will be added, allowing players to prove their true strength as a Greymane.
  • Damiane and Oongka’s overall gameplay experience will be improved. Various adjustments will be made so that all three playable characters can get a share of the spotlight.
  • We will continue making improvements to non-combat content, such as trading and farming, to address areas that players have found inconvenient.

Pearl Abyss said it’s also working on bringing cross-save to the game across its PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC versions. The game has already come a long way from its initial launch, as fans continue to wonder how the studio finds any time to sleep. Finicky control schemes have been improved, tedious crafting systems have been streamlined, and lots of new pets and other small features have been added over the past couple of months. While most players will never finish the game, those who have invested hundreds of hours were pleased to see the rematch and re-blockade updates reboot the entire end-game.

There’s no sense yet of when Crimson Desert‘s first big DLC will arrive, but at this rate, I wouldn’t be surprised if we see it before the end of the year.
