Grim Siege, a dark fantasy trading card game on Steam, has permanently dropped its price and is now free to play. Released in September 2026, the game has earned about 90% positive reviews from Steam users, though its total number of ratings remains relatively modest at the time of writing.
In Grim Siege, players build decks and battle both AI-controlled opponents and other players. The goal is to defend and build up their tower while disrupting the opponent’s strategy and destroying their tower. Like other trading card games, Grim Siege features various synergies, classes, and deck-building strategies that help keep gameplay fresh.
Grim Siege Used to Cost $6 on Steam, Now It’s Free
As of October 29, Grim Siege has joined Steam’s free-to-play lineup after initially launching on the platform with a $6 price tag. Explaining the change, developer Saqred Games said, “I want as many players as possible to discover the game and join those who have already come to love Grim Siege.” The developer also rewarded existing players with some in-game currency as a thank you for their support.
Grim Siege lets players create private lobbies and invite their friends.
Grim Siege could be a tiny game with high replay value thanks to its several interesting game modes. Players can compete in 1v1 and 2v2 PvP matches or take on a PvE mode with roguelike elements. The game also features ranked matches for those seeking a more competitive card game experience. More importantly, Grim Siege lets players create private lobbies and invite their friends, so they can play together without dealing with matchmaking or sparsely populated servers.
Unlike some other trading card games, Grim Siege doesn’t have a steep learning curve. Players only need to manage three resources: Stone, Blood, and Slaves, each of which serves a specific purpose. For example, Stone helps reinforce walls and defend the tower. Blood is used to create magic and statuses, while Slaves drive attacks and other aggressive moves. Meanwhile, the game offers a wide range of classes and effects that add variety to gameplay and let players develop complex strategies on the board.
