Dawn Release Features Official Eater of Worlds Raid

Destiny 2‘s Eater of Worlds Raid is coming back from the content vault in the new Destiny 2: Dawn. On May 21 this year, Bungie unexpectedly announced that content support for Destiny 2 would end on June 9 after the Monument of Triumph update, despite still having a half-baked expansion in the works. Shattered Cycle development ended, and some of its content was added to Monument of Triumph, but fans won’t get to see Old Chicago. The community has been pushing back, trying to get Destiny 3 greenlit by Sony to continue the franchise.

However, neither the official Destiny 3 petition nor the smashing success of the Monument of Triumph update seems to have moved the needle at Bungie and Sony. Bungie does still have Marathon as a live game currently in development, but it was recently hit by a massive delay for Season 3, and its player numbers are dwindling. Fans would like to see Destiny as a franchise revived in some way, and while official sources stay quiet on that front, a new project called Destiny 2: Dawn will launch soon, including the Eater of Worlds Raid, among other content.

Destiny 2: Raids in Order

There have been 13 Raids in Destiny 2’s history, and we’ll show you all of them in their release order, along with which ones have been sunset.

Destiny 2: Eater of Worlds Officially Returns Soon

Destiny 2: Dawn is a free multiplayer mod with Raids, Dungeons, and more coming out of the content vault within the Shadowkeep era of the game, in Season of Arrivals. The official Dawn Twitter account shared a new trailer for what to expect within the mod, including dual-wielding guns, returning content like the Tree of Probabilities Strike, the Red War campaign, and more. One of the developers, isinternets, posted a video on Twitter with full gameplay of the first encounter in the Eater of Worlds Raid, completely solo and with functioning enemy spawns, encounter mechanics, and even loot at the end. This shows that Destiny 2‘s Leviathan Raid is coming back with Dawn, and most likely with functional multiplayer modes.

While Eater of Worlds is partly available in the live game, this is only through the bosses in Destiny 2‘s Pantheon 2.0 mode, which includes the final boss of the vaulted Raid, Argos, Planetary Core. Dawn aims to launch with Curse of Osiris as a campaign and add more vaulted content later, while also adding the Eater of Worlds Raid and CoO Strikes. The project is ambitious, and players can support it by joining the official Discord channel, which also shares updates on what’s coming next and will presumably announce Dawn‘s launch date. Eater of Worlds was considered one of the shortest and simplest Destiny 2 Raids at the time, but fans are still yearning for any form of vaulted content to return, so it’s being hyped a lot online.

Destiny 2 Project Sunrise released for free in August, and while Dawn is a different thing, it’s the same principle of using a previous build of the game dating back to Season of Arrivals, just before Beyond Light launched and the content vault was introduced. Dawn‘s focus will presumably shift toward other vaulted parts of the game after v0.1 launches with Curse of Osiris, so the mod will grow and expand with time.

Similarly, Project Sunrise is bringing back Destiny 2 Season Passes and Artifacts. On the other hand, Dawn‘s goal is to recreate multiplayer game servers, allowing not only players to play vaulted content, but also to play with friends. For more information, fans may want to jump into Dawn‘s Discord channel or follow the project on social media.
