With bigger names and licenses ever attracted to the definitive asymmetrical horror game, in Dead by Daylight’s ninth year, fans can be sure to see even more horror icons arrive in The Fog.
In 2023, Dead by Daylight saw the inclusion of characters like Child’s Play’s Chucky, and the titular extraterrestrial from Alien. Next month, Dead by Daylight: Dungeons & Dragons will bring a new Killer, Survivor, and Map to the game. Celebrating 50 years of Dungeons & Dragons, the Lich King Vecna is coming to Dead by Daylight with new powers and perks to play with. Right now, players on the Steam version of Dead by Daylight can playtest the new Chapter in preparation for its full release on June 3. Furthermore, as leaked late last year, Dracula from Castlevania will follow Vecna as the next Killer. Revealed at the very end of the anniversary livestream, players can hear more about this license on August 6.
Rounding off the Year 9 Roadmap, the rest of the year will feature two other Licensed Chapters and two original Chapters, one featuring a single Survivor – similar to Mikaela Reid in Hour of the Witch. Behaviour has also revealed the development of a 2v8 LTM, in which two Killers will face off against eight Survivors. As usual, the Halloween and Holiday seasonal events that fans have come to expect will also be reappearing throughout the year.
This roadmap is far from comprehensive, and players are sure to see plenty more throughout the upcoming year – both in Dead by Daylight, and in The Casting of Frank Stone. This is the first year that four licenses have been set to appear in the game, and is an indication of just how much of a cultural and commercial success Dead by Daylight has proven to be, even eight years into its lifespan.
Dead by Daylight
Dead by Daylight is an asymmetrical multiplayer horror game in which one player takes on the role of a Killer and the others play as “Survivors.” The Killer must hunt the Survivors, while the Survivors must escape.
