Popular anime Delicious in Dungeon could be getting a video game adaptation. Originally created by manga artist Ryoko Kui, Delicious in Dungeon, also known as Dungeon Meshi, takes a lot of inspiration from Dungeons and Dragons, and fans often compare it to various RPGs due to the story’s themes.
The first season of Delicious in Dungeon anime premiered in 2024, which ran for 24 episodes. The series was received incredibly well by fans worldwide as it combined high fantasy themes with cooking and humor. It follows a party consisting of Laios the warrior, Marcille the elf mage, Senshi the dwarf, and Chilchuck the half-foot locksmith, as they fight through various dungeons to defeat a dragon that ate his sister, Falin. Along the way, Laios and the gang discover creative ways to cook and eat monsters in order to keep their energy up throughout their journey. The cooking parts added an endearing aspect to the usual dungeon-crawling plot, which contributed to Delicious in Dungeon‘s massive success.

Delicious in Dungeon Game Could Finally Be in Development
Delicious in Dungeon creator Ryoko Kui has always been open about her love for fantasy media, especially story-rich RPGs like the Baldur’s Gate and Pathfinder franchises. And with the anime’s popularity, it’s natural for fans to hope for a video game inspired by it, especially with equally huge titles like Demon Slayer getting multiple games. It seems like the dream might turn into a reality because Reddit user capitalggamer1 reported in a post that a Delicious in Dungeon game is allegedly being developed by Japan-based studio Toydea.
They shared a series of screenshots of early builds from 2023 — which would mean that it’s supposedly in development before the first season premiered — showing the character models for Laios, Marcille, Senshi, and Chilchuck, including windows showing their stats, abilities, and equipment. One screenshot also shows them exploring a dungeon, which is reminiscent of Baldur’s Gate‘s gameplay. The release date for the rumored game wasn’t disclosed and Toydea has yet to confirm the news, so fans should take the information and the early builds with a grain of salt for now.
In the comments, many Delicious in Dungeon fans expressed their excitement for the rumored video game. They also stated that Ryoko Kui would love the idea of her creation being turned into a video game considering her affinity for RPGs. Meanwhile, some asked if Toydea’s Delicious in Dungeon game would have a cooking mechanic as well, since that’s the story’s central theme and what made the manga and anime stand out. The screenshots provided by capitalggamer1 didn’t show any cooking, but it’s still possible to have a cooking feature that’s similar to various RPGs and JRPGs like Monster Hunter World and Final Fantasy 15.

One could argue that it might be too early to come out with a Delicious in Dungeon game since the anime only has one season, and it’s still unclear when Season 2 will officially premiere. But the first season alone could provide so much content for the rumored game, and Toydea could also have creative liberty for how the story will go, especially if it’s going to be choice-driven like other Dungeons and Dragons-inspired video games. At the same time, it would be a great opportunity to come out with multiple games that cover one or two seasons of the anime, just like what Demon Slayer did with Hinokami Chronicles.
