Deltarune Chapter 6 Release Window Confirmed

Deltarune Chapter 6 Release Window Confirmed

Toby Fox has revealed the release window of the sixth chapter of Deltarune, giving fans something to look forward to even while they might be just finishing up Chapter 5. The episodic release schedule of Deltarune has sometimes required players to wait years between chapters, making any development update noteworthy.

While many gamers are still digging into Chapter 5 of Deltarune after its June 24 launch, some have already finished it, given its 6 to 10-hour playtime. These players are likely already wondering how long it will be before the next installment in the indie RPG arrives. Fortunately and unfortunately, they at least now have a release window to set their sights on.

Deltarune Fans May Have a Long Wait for Chapter 6

The very short FAQ on Deltarune’s Steam page has recently been expanded to address a couple of common questions about the game’s future. The answer to the first question is, no, Chapter 5 is not the final one and there are more free episodes coming. The response to the second question, which asks when players can expect Chapter 6, states: “We are aiming for a 2027 release! Meanwhile, we will be periodically releasing information on the development progress of the game.” The final question of the FAQ still only fails to answer the question about whether players can pet dogs in Deltarune’s first two chapters.

The 2027 target means that, even if Deltarune Chapter 6 came out in January, which is unlikely, that would still be at least a five-month wait. However, at this point, fans are accustomed to the game’s episodes being released at fairly lengthy intervals. And if there’s one thing gamers are good at, it’s waiting patiently and impatiently for new entries in their favorite series. The wait between Doom 3 and Doom 2016 was 12 years, as was the stretch between Diablo 2 and 3. The sequel to Alan Wake took 13 years to make an appearance, and more than 13 years will have passed between the releases of Grand Theft Auto 5 and GTA 6. Luckily, Deltarune fans won’t need to wait quite that long, and Toby Fox has promised that there will be periodic progress reports on Chapter 6’s development.

For now, players still have plenty to keep them occupied while waiting for the game’s next entry. Though it has a relatively short playtime, there are multiple endings to Deltarune Chapter 5, meaning there are multiple reasons to replay it. Others may want to revisit previous chapters to hunt for hidden secrets. Or, for those who haven’t done so yet, it might be worth jumping into Undertale, Toby Fox’s debut game that came out in 2015
