Destiny 2 gets a very encouraging update, and it’s one of the biggest for the game this year. First doomed to end all support and live-service updates after the final Monument of Triumph update in June, the game is now being resurrected by Bungie and Sony. In a blog post dedicated to the future of Bungie, Studio Head Poria Torkan and Bungie Head of Product and General Manager of Marathon Josh Deane talked about bringing Destiny 2 back to life with meaningful updates.

In fact, Destiny 2 is unvaulting all content for free, adding it back to the game for players to experience again or for the first time. This includes the Red War campaign, Curse of Osiris, Warmind, locations that are no longer available, such as Io and Titan, and more. Bungie also stated that this is going to be a long process and will take time, but the studio is committed to doing this and also to reviving the franchise as a whole, possibly with new games, spin-offs, or sequels. Now, the game is getting one of the biggest updates of the year, and it’s great news for fans.

Destiny 2 is Officially Hiring Again

After a massive round of layoffs that cut around 400 positions within Bungie, at Sony, or contractor jobs, Bungie is now hiring again for Destiny 2. A new Senior UX Designer position at Bungie surfaced online, and it’s a role called “Interaction Designer” for the company’s looter-shooter, specifically. This is a contract position that aims to “design amazing player interactions within Destiny 2,” and while the specifics remain undisclosed so far, it’s a very good sign after one of the worst times Bungie has ever gone through. This doesn’t mean that the studio is out of the woods or that all current or future Destiny projects will be greenlit by Sony, but it does mean that the company is taking action to actually work on its promises and deliver.

Just last week, Bungie officially teased a Destiny 1 remaster inclusive of a PC port, with Deane sharing a comment about it on his Twitter account. While the Interaction Designer role is seemingly aimed at Destiny 2, specifically, it’s possible that Bungie is exploring its options for new positions to help its vision for the franchise as a whole. Regardless, the fact that the studio is hiring again after a few dark months this year is a good omen for its projects, and much more so for the Destiny IP.

Although the official Destiny 3 petition got over 410,000 signatures over time, neither Bungie nor Sony has committed to actually making a sequel just yet. It may be in the cards for Bungie in its current plans for the franchise, but it will likely start small with safe projects, like the aforementioned D1 remaster and port.

Things seem to be changing for good at Bungie, and another recent update shows as much. After the Monument of Triumph release, Destiny 2 got a new official patch recently that tries to make things easier for Bungie to fix some persistent issues. This is yet another good sign for the franchise, though new hires are even better.
