How to Level Up Fast in Diablo 4
To level up quickly, players will need to take on a wide range of activities in the world of Sanctuary: Dungeons, Renown Rewards, and Side Quests are among the best methods. Thankfully, Diablo 4 is generous with XP gains, especially after it got tweaked following player feedback during the game’s earlier seasons. That said, the following tips will help players get the best edge.
Farm Helltides
As of Diablo 4 Season 4, Helltides have become the best way to level up characters. This season saw the introduction of Helltides in the first two World Tiers, giving fresh characters a chance to earn tons of XP and loot simultaneously.
For the uninitiated, Helltides are world events that fill certain regions of the map with demons. Enemy density in these affected areas is extremely high, making them great for farming XP in general. Helltides are usually active for only an hour, but they’ll sprout back somewhere else on the map after a few minutes. If you can farm quickly enough, you can get a Level 1 character all the way to Level 50 in about four hours.
However, Helltides only become available after the campaign. If you’re a completely new player, then you’ll want to follow the rest of these tips to help maximize your XP gains as you’re going through the story.
Play at a Higher World Tier
Diablo 4’s World Tier system determines many things: how many enemies spawn, how tough they are, how hard they hit, and more. However, for every buff the enemies get, the player also gets a massive jump in XP gained and loot quality. The harder the difficulty, the bigger the reward.

With Blizzcon canceled for 2024, many Diablo 4 fans might be wondering how the lack of this year’s event could affect news and reveals for the game.
Use Elixirs
There are many elixirs in the game, and most (if not all) of them increase your XP gain by a small amount. These elixirs can be crafted by Alchemists, dropped by monsters, or earned as rewards. Choose the elixirs that are best for your Diablo 4 build and stock up on them. Then, when you enter a dungeon or world event, drink a potion to bump up the experience you’ll earn from it for a limited time.
Play with Friends (Or Strangers)
In an effort to encourage people to enjoy Diablo 4 together, Blizzard chose to give players an XP boost if they’re partied up. Those who play Diablo 4 in a party get 10% more XP from everything. There’s also a 5% XP boost for being near another player, even if they aren’t in the same party. This bonus stacks with the Elixir bonus noted above.
Complete Side Missions
Every outpost on the map is populated by people needing something or another. Some ask the wanderer for help foraging in the woods; others require that the wanderer liberate a hideous monster’s head from its body. Some mission providers even offer multiple missions, like Sister Octavia, who can be found on the East side of Kyovashad. While side quests aren’t exactly quick to complete, they’ll give you a big chunk of XP at the end.

Clear Side Dungeons
The Side Dungeons in Diablo 4 offer neat rewards in the form of Aspects, which are enchantments that players can unlock to use with any character on their account. They’re challenging, packed with critters, and always end with an epic boss fight. Grouped up with friends, players can expect to gain levels quickly just by jumping from one dungeon to the next.
Earn Renown Rewards
Diablo 4 tracks players’ overall completion for each region on the map. As the player completes side quests, dungeons, and more, they’ll earn Renown for that region. At certain thresholds of Renown, players will be able to accept a reward. The Bonus XP reward for these is substantial, but remember that the higher tiers require playing at a higher World Tier.
