Diablo 4 Launches ‘Hatred’s Downfall’ Community Challenge

Diablo 4 Launches ‘Hatred’s Downfall’ Community Challenge

Diablo 4 has launched the Hatred’s Downfall community challenge, allowing players to earn a free helmet cosmetic to kick off Lord of Hatred and the Season of Reckoning. If the community goal is reached, every Diablo 4 player will receive this cosmetic, but it will take an enormous effort to achieve.

Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred has officially launched, bringing two new classes to the game as well as a new playable area and a conclusion to the Age of Hatred arc. Reviews for the expansion have been solid, indicating that Blizzard has stuck the landing with its latest offering. The initial launch of Lord of Hatred was marred by connection issues, with players reporting difficulty getting into the expansion. This is pretty standard for most new Diablo 4 season launches, and the problems seem to have largely subsided.

If You Haven’t Played Diablo 4 in a While, Here’s What to Know About Lord of Hatred

Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred changes the game drastically, meaning returning players jumping back in after a hiatus may need to do some catching up.

Following Lord of Hatred‘s release, Blizzard has released a new community challenge named Hatred’s Downfall. This challenge tasks Diablo 4 players with earning 266,600,000 Paragon Points in Lord of Hatred. If achieved, every player will be gifted a free helmet cosmetic called the Crown of Hatred, which belongs to Mephisto. Every player can participate in this community challenge on any realm, so no matter what Diablo 4 difficulty someone is playing on, their Paragon Points will still contribute to this challenge.

It’s not clear exactly how long players have to complete the Hatred’s Downfall community challenge, but it’s safe to say it won’t be expiring any time soon. Players only get access to Paragon Points upon reaching the max level, at which point the Paragon Board is unlocked and endgame builds really start to take shape. With Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred‘s level cap increase to 70, it will take players even longer to access Paragon Points in the first place. This means that Blizzard should give players the majority of the season to complete it, meaning it’s very likely that the Crown of Hatred will be given out for free during the Season of Reckoning.

The level cap change isn’t the only big change in Lord of Hatred. Blizzard has made some important gem overhauls, which ensure the socketed items now have a major influence on builds. On top of this, the developer has improved some of Diablo 4‘s worst classes, balancing the game across the board to create more viable endgame builds. It will take some time before players grasp the full extent of Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred‘s changes.

Now that Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred has been released, Blizzard will shift towards releasing smaller updates to fix any bugs that have made their way into the expansion. Looking a little beyond the current season and recent expansion release, it seems that Diablo 4 still has plenty of life left yet, as the game goes from strength to strength. Recent rumors have also suggested that Diablo 4 could be coming to the Nintendo Switch soon, which would be massive for opening the game up to a new audience.
