Diablo 4 Lord of Hatred Update Patch Notes Revealed

Blizzard has revealed the patch notes for Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred‘s first update ahead of its release on April 28. The patch notes show some of the changes coming to Diablo 4 in Lord of Hatred, although they do not detail the new additions available in the upcoming expansion.

Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred was revealed at The Game Awards 2025. Those who pre-ordered the expansion were given access to Diablo 4‘s Paladin, one of the two new classes coming in Lord of Hatred, alongside the Warlock. Blizzard’s target was to release one expansion per year after the game’s 2023 launch, but it missed the mark after failing to release one in 2025. Lord of Hatred is the follow-up to 2024’s Vessel of Hatred, and is set to conclude the Age of Hatred saga that began all the way back at Diablo 4‘s initial release.

Diablo 4 Finally Reveals Neyrelle’s Fate in Lord of Hatred

Diablo 4 finally answers the question that has been lingering on everyone’s minds: how does Neyrelle play into the story of Lord of Hatred?

Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred 3.0.1 Patch Notes are Here

Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred‘s 3.0.1 patch notes are available right now via Blizzard ahead of the expansion’s launch on April 28, 2026. These are not to detail all the features coming in Lord of Hatred, but rather to explain changes made to the core experience in the expansion and the Season of Reckoning. There are a few expansion-specific bug fixes here, but the patch notes are largely focused on how the broader Diablo 4 gameplay is changing in the coming days.

Diablo 4‘s Tower has now been renamed to The Artificer’s Tower, with this endgame activity also receiving improved loot rewards across the board. All Gems socketed into weapons have new multiplicative damage bonuses, which is quietly a huge change for endgame builds. Monsters with the Shielded and Reprisal Affixes have been made more visually distinct, making it easier to tell when enemies are affected by either. There’s also a new option for Chromatic Aberration in Diablo 4‘s accessibility settings. On top of all these changes, there is a long list of base-game bug fixes that should make for a more stable experience overall.

The early Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred reviews indicate that the upcoming expansion will be a big step forward for Blizzard’s action RPG. On the review aggregator site OpenCritic, it currently has a Top Critic Average of 84, with praise given to how it sticks the landing on the Age of Hatred arc and the important changes to Diablo 4‘s endgame. It seems to have been worth the wait for long-time fans of the game.

While Diablo 4 continues to go from strength to strength, the franchise’s future is equally exciting. Earlier this year, one of the game’s executive producers, Gavian Whishaw, revealed that Blizzard wants to release future Diablo games more quickly, with mainline titles in the series typically taking over a decade to release. Whether this comes to fruition remains to be seen, but the franchise is undoubtedly in a great place right now.
