Diablo 4 players smashed the Divine Bovine community challenge, unlocking a special in-game item that all players can now claim, though it won’t be around forever. It’s been a huge week for Diablo 4 and franchise fans as Blizzard had plenty of news to share at BlizzCon 2026.
Part of the news was the reveal of Diablo 4‘s new season of content. The Season of Hell’s Legacy is a celebration of Diablo‘s 30th Anniversary, which also includes the return of the fan favorite NPC, Deckard Cain. Serving as a guide for players, the new season brings back the Dark Wanderers from past games to hunt down, iconic unique items, and Soul Splinters that grant players powerful abilities. Waking Nightmare activities in Diablo 4 even let players face off against the Prime Evils in special memories designed around nostalgic key moments revreated in the game’s engine.
Diablo 4 Reveals Moomento Mori Mount Trophy Item
During the BlizzCon festivities, Diablo 4 kicked off a new Community Event called The Divine Bovine. Diablo 4‘s typical Global World Bosses were replaced by an enemy known as Moophisto and players would have until September 14 to kill the warrior cow over 300,000 times. As it turns out, the players got the job done just in time, hitting the target before the end of the final day of the challenge and unlocking a special in-game item that is available to all to claim.

Known as Moomento Mori, the Mount Trophy is now available to be claimed from the in-game shop for all players, regardless if they participated or not. The item itself is a special Mount Trophy in Diablo 4, which players can place on the rear of their mount to show off. It’s essentially the severed head of Moophisto with broken horns. It’s worth noting that this item is tied to Season 15 and will likely become unavailable, or perhaps no longer free, once the season comes to a close sometime in December.

The Divine Bovine challenge was just a small sample of what Blizzard had to share regarding the Diablo franchise. While it may be disappointing to know that Diablo 4 isn’t getting any more expansions going forward, Blizzard isn’t giving up on the game just yet. Alongside continued seasonal releases and content, Blizzard announced the return of the Amazon in the first half of 2027, inspired by the classic Javelin and Bow-wielding class from Diablo 2. Blizzard confirmed four archetypes, including the sword and shield Champion, Javelin-equipped Skirmisher, long distance Ranger, and a Commander who appears to call in phalanxes of Valkyries.
However, for many, the biggest announcement at BlizzCon was that Diablo 5 is in development, targeting a launch sometime in 2029. While that’s still a ways off, Blizzard had more to say on the game, confirming the return of Diablo to the franchise. Taking place in the future, Diablo has conquered Sanctuary, forcing players to travel by caravan and build allies, companions, and merchants to fight back. Three classes were also confirmed, including the Demon Hunter and Monk, as well as a brand-new class called the Plague Knight. There are a ways to go, but expect more communication throughout 2027.
