Diablo 4 Season 12 Nerfs One of the Best XP Farming Methods in the Game

Diablo 4 Season 12 Nerfs One of the Best XP Farming Methods in the Game

Blizzard has confirmed that World and Lair Bosses will receive reduced XP rewards in Diablo 4 Season 12. Farming the XP from World and Lair Bosses has long been one of the most efficient ways to level up quickly in Diablo 4, which could make this a particularly frustrating change in Season 12.

Diablo 4 Season 12 is named the Season of Slaughter, and is set to arrive on March 11. The latest content drop will allow players to transform into The Butcher for the first time, introducing Kill Streaks as a seasonal mechanic. Season 12 arrives at a slightly awkward time. Because it is just under two months until the launch of Diablo 4‘s Lord of Hatred expansion, it will be slightly shorter than previous seasons. Most of the changes on the way for Season 12 were already revealed during the 2.6.0 PTR held last month, but Blizzard has made another surprising nerf that has already frustrated some players before the season has even begun.

Diablo 4 Season 11’s Best Class is Now Official

The best class throughout Diablo 4 Season 11 is revealed as the latest season approaches the finish line.

Diablo 4 Season 12 is Nerfing World and Lair Boss XP

In the recently released patch notes for Diablo 4 Season 12, Blizzard revealed that World and Lair Bosses are receiving a major nerf. The patch note reads: “Experience rewards have been reduced for defeating World and Lair Bosses.” This will be a significant hit to one of the best speed leveling techniques in Diablo 4, and some players are already voicing their displeasure at the change. A comment thread on Reddit lamented the nerf, while some pointed out that the strong XP rewards in World and Lair Bosses were creating an AFK player problem. When one user jokingly asked, “So what do we do to level now?” another said, “Play the game?”

The reception to the change wasn’t entirely negative. One user explained that by making Lair Bosses some of the best XP farming methods in Diablo 4, players were “forced to do the lair boss over and over again for efficiency.” By nerfing the XP rates, Blizzard opens up more possibilities for players who still want to level up efficiently, albeit now in different ways.

Because Diablo 4 encourages making a new character each season, it’s rare that a low-level player is actually playing the game for the first time. A lot of seasonal content is based around the endgame, and many just want to skip that early-game grind to get to the stuff they haven’t already seen before. This makes Diablo 4 XP farms extremely important for many players, as it can massively reduce the time taken to get to the endgame content. Whether World and Lair Bosses remain amongst the best XP farms in Season 12 remains to be seen, but they certainly won’t be as rapid as they were in previous seasons.

With Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred under two months away, it’s going to be a very exciting period for fans. The game is set to introduce the Warlock class in the new expansion, joining the Paladin which made its debut in Season 11 for players who pre-ordered the upcoming expansion. As well as this, Blizzard recently revealed that Diablo 4 is officially crossing over with Doom, a hell-themed crossover that makes a lot of sense. The last few seasons of the game have been a massive success, with seasonal mechanics such as Chaos Armor and Sanctification proving to be a major hit with players. Blizzard will be hoping to repeat the feat when Diablo 4 Season 12 launches on March 11.
