Diablo 4 Update Leaves Players Even More Frustrated with Season 14

Diablo 4 Update Leaves Players Even More Frustrated with Season 14

Diablo 4 players have found themselves even more frustrated with Season 14 following the latest update to the game. Much of players’ frustrations stem from the drop rate of Iconic Mythics in Diablo 4 Season 14, which are proving impossible to come by. However, a response from Blizzard indicates that it might not be intentional.

Diablo 4 Season 14 has been one of the most controversial seasons of the game to date. After the extremely strong Season 13, which did not feature a seasonal mechanic but did launch the Lord of Hatred DLC, Season 14 always had a tough act to follow. The PTR for the season left players initially worried, and those fears were realized upon release, after the seasonal mechanic failed to live up to expectations.

Diablo 4 Season 14’s Best Class is a Huge Surprise

After the Rogue was dominant last season, Diablo 4 Season 14’s best class comes as a big surprise.

Diablo 4 Season 14 Iconic Mythics Still Aren’t Dropping Post-Patch

In an attempt to resolve some of the issues in Diablo 4 Season 14, Blizzard released the 3.1.1 update, which claimed to include an increased chance of naturally dropped Mythics being an Iconic Mythic. However, Diablo creator Rob2628 quickly pointed out that Iconic Mythics were still not being dropped by the new Reaper Boss, even when farmed over and over again. This sentiment has become widely accepted in the community in the days since, with players struggling to find any of these rare items. One user on Reddit put it to the test post-patch, getting zero Iconic Mythics from 830 boss chests.

Another popular creator, wudijo, also got to work farming Diablo 4 Mythics immediately after the patch was released. Their frustrations came from the fact that the dropped Mythics came with the Crafted tag. In Season 14, players can only equip one Crafted Mythic at any given time, meaning they’re unable to put multiple of them together into one build. This makes it much harder to put together a solid endgame build, compounding players’ frustrations with Diablo 4 Season 14 even further.

It’s not a placebo effect, either. On the Blizzard forums, community manager Lyricana has since responded to claims of the Iconic Mythic drop rate still being broken post-patch, claiming it is being investigated by the developer. And while this may be the case, it’s fair to say that Season 14 has been anything but a success for Blizzard, given how toxic the sentiment has been so far. It will take a lot for the studio to get back on track with Season 14, and with so many already giving up on the season, it may simply be a case of many waiting for Season 15 to hopefully mark a return to form.

It’s clear that Blizzard will have plenty of work to do in Season 15 to win back players’ goodwill. How it will do that remains to be seen – hopefully with a more compelling seasonal mechanic, which became something of a strong point for the developer in the seasons prior to Lord of Hatred. In the meantime, rumors of a Diablo 4 Switch 2 release continue to heat up, indicating the game could be set to open up to an entirely new audience soon enough.
