Blizzard has released the patch notes for a brand-new Diablo 4 Season 14 update, which officially nerfs the Rogue’s infinite damage bug. As a result, Diablo 4 players should notice that the Rogue’s dominance in the Pit and Tower leaderboards should come to an end in the near future.

The Rogue has been Diablo 4‘s best class for a short while now – at least across the last couple of seasons. On both the Tower and Pit leaderboards, the class leads the way. While other classes have completed Tier 150 of both in Season 14 so far, none are coming close to the sheer speed of the Rogue by some margin. The issue is caused by the Rogue’s Dash ability – specifically the Shadow Play variant. With this, players were able to deal far more damage than Blizzard ever intended, making the class severely overpowered while the bug was known about.

Diablo 4’s Rogue Infinite Damage Bug Finally Gets a Fix

Blizzard recently released the patch notes for Diablo 4‘s 3.1.2 update, which is set to release on July 28. It’s a very small update this time around, but comes with one important, meta-changing fix. “Fixed an issue where Rogue’s Dash could deal an incorrect amount of damage when using the Shadow Play Variant.” This change means that Diablo 4‘s Rogue, specifically those playing into this particular bug, will receive a pretty big nerf going forward.

Naturally, this means that Diablo 4‘s leaderboards should look much more legitimate going forward, giving a much better idea of what the actual best class in the game is (without using bugs). It’s not uncommon for exploit builds to sit at the top of the meta, but it’s ultimately good for the health of Diablo 4 that these are eventually patched out of the game, even if they’re pretty fun to play.

Over on Reddit, the change was welcomed by players. However, the overriding sentiment is that the fix is arriving a little too late for some, given that the issue with the Rogue’s Dash wasn’t exactly a secret. Others pointed out that attempts have been made to fix this issue in the past, with some suggesting that there could be ways around it, even post-update. This is merely a community theory, though, and there’s no reason to think that Blizzard hasn’t managed to fix Diablo 4‘s infinite damage Rogue glitch in the upcoming 3.1.2 update.

By Blizzard’s lofty standards, Diablo 4 Season 14 has been very poorly received by the community. Its seasonal mechanic was not a favorite among players, and when compared to the strong reception of Season 13 (which launched alongside the massive Lord of Hatred expansion), it has been a major disappointment. Hopefully, Blizzard will learn the correct lessons from this season to deliver a return to form with the upcoming Season 15.
