Nintendo has released a brand-new update for Donkey Kong Bananza on the Nintendo Switch 2. The new update brings Donkey Kong Bananza up to version 3.2.0, fixing several issues in Nintendo’s critically acclaimed 2025 platformer.
Donkey Kong Bananza launched in July 2025 as a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive, bringing one of Nintendo’s most iconic mascots to its latest home console for the first time. Prior to this, the last game in the series was Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze in 2014, making Donkey Kong Bananza the first new title in over a decade. Despite the large release gap in the series, Donkey Kong Bananza didn’t miss a beat and was met with massive critical acclaim. It holds a Top Critic Average of 91 on review aggregator site OpenCritic, indicating a glorious return for Donkey Kong. Thanks to strong word of mouth, the platformer also enjoyed excellent sales, and it remains one of the best-selling games on the Nintendo Switch 2.

The patch notes for the latest Donkey Kong Bananza update are available on the Nintendo Support website. The update, which brings the latest game in the Donkey Kong series up to version 3.2.0, features a single patch note: “Several issues have been addressed to improve the gameplay experience.” It is pretty much as short as patch notes can possibly be, and it’s quite vague as to what the update actually solves. It’s the first new Donkey Kong Bananza update in over a month, and it’s good to see Nintendo still putting effort into smoothing out the overall experience. Not every update has to be pages’ worth of changes, even if, on this occasion, it would have been nice to get some insight into the specifics of the fixes.
The small patch notes for this new Donkey Kong Bananza update are similar to the game’s last patch for version 3.1.0. Those patch notes had a similar, vague note about issues fixed to improve the gameplay experience, along with support for Polish-language text in-game. While in-game fixes may be small, Nintendo is still doing plenty to give players reasons to play Donkey Kong Bananza again, adding new events that aren’t necessarily included in the patch notes.
Although the patch notes for the game tend to be on the shorter side, Donkey Kong Bananza‘s post-launch support has been consistently strong, with regular updates since its release last year. In September 2025, Nintendo even shadow-dropped a new DLC for Donkey Kong Bananza, which took players to DK Island, a location familiar to long-time fans of the franchise.
There is no indication whether Nintendo has any plans for another Donkey Kong Bananza DLC at this point in time. Given that the DK Island and Emerald Rush expansion was shadow-dropped, it’s always possible that Nintendo takes that approach again. Right now, it’s all speculation about whether gamers will see any more from one of the best games released in 2025. For now, Nintendo’s continued support via updates could be a good omen for things to come. Looking beyond Donkey Kong Bananza, gamers will be hoping that the wait for the next game in the series is not as long as the 11-year gap between the two most recent titles.
