Dragon Ball has released new artwork of Goku’s upcoming transformation, as well as new artwork of his primary villain. Early July has turned out to be a surprisingly busy month for the Dragon Ball franchise, with this new artwork being the most recent in a string of official announcements.

For example, just days ago, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 confirmed its final DLC (after a decade of support) would release on July 8—the same day that the beloved God of Destruction Beerus also debuts in Dragon Ball: Gekishin Squadra. All of this, of course, before a new anime adaptation of The Galactic Patrol and an anime remake in Dragon Ball Super: Beerus release later this year. And ahead of that final DLC, fans have received another new look at Goku’s new form and new artwork of Fu.

Dragon Ball: Every Saiyan’s Best Transformation

There are dozens of Super Saiyan forms, each stronger than the last – but not every Saiyan has the power to make use of their race’s strongest forms.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 Shows Off Ultra Superhero Goku and Ultra Supervillain Fu

The aforementioned Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 DLC is confirmed to have a new artwork gallery, but ahead of that release, Dragon Ball reporter Jenik, also known as ContonMods, has shared a few of the images included there. One of them focuses on the Demon Fu, who in Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, uses his abilities to corrupt others and turn them into Ultra Supervillains. A second image shows off those villains, highlighting Ultra Supervillain forms of Vegeta, Frieza, Jiren, and more. The most interesting image, as shown above, is the new Ultra Superhero transformation for Goku.

Rearrange the covers into the correct Japanese release order.

As first seen in the Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 DLC trailer, Ultra Superhero is a counter to Ultra Supervillain and also features an embedded crystal with a greenish blue aura (as opposed to the purplish red of Ultra Supervillain). The latest image now shows that turning his entire right arm into crystal, suggesting there may be some further form of crystallization witnessed later in the Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 DLC. And of course, powerscaling being what it is in DBZ, this is likely Goku’s most powerful yet—especially as a variant of Ultra Instinct.

While these new images are exciting, it’s safe to say the release of this new form and DLC is actually quite bittersweet. Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 has been supported by developer CyberConnect 2 and publisher Bandai Namco Entertainment since its release in late 2016—effectively a full decade. This DLC is a send-off for Xenoverse 2, but the good news is that the next chapter has already been confirmed. Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 releases in 2027 and continues the adventures of the Time Patrol in Age 1000. Details are scarce right now, aside from a few gameplay features, but it’s hopefully an exciting new start.

Who’s That Character?

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 will reportedly introduce the Time Gods of Destruction, supposedly with the ability to destroy entire timelines, and they are said to resemble dinosaurs. Such an escalation of power also means an escalation in power for the playable character, as well as Goku, so it also seems safe to say that this isn’t the last time fans will see Ultra Superhero Goku.
