Pawn Inclinations Tip in Dragon's Dogma 2

In Dragon’s Dogma 2, the Pawns are AI-controlled companions who will always accompany your character while you play the game. These Pawns are introduced at the start of the game and then continue to follow you as you progress in the game.

Surprisingly, you can select three Pawns, one of which will be your main companion, and the other two will be your recruit. These Pawns help your character by providing helpful hints on quests and identifying enemy weaknesses. Besides that, they are also used to handle various tasks encountered in the game.

While you can switch out your recruited Pawns, your main Pawn will remain a constant member of your team once selected.

Every Pawn comes equipped with its own set of special skills and abilities known as Specializations that help to determine the basic strengths and skills of Pawns. So far, six identified Pawn Specializations have been mentioned below.

  • Hawker
  • Forager
  • Logistician
  • Chirurgeon
  • Woodland Wordsmith
  • Aphonite

What Do These Specializations Do

Every Specialization in Dragon’s Dogma 2 has its own trait, which will act as a secondary trait and give your pawns an extra ability.

Specialization Description
Hawker This skill enables the pawns to purchase items from you in exchange for gold.
Forager Pawns that are gifted with this skill can detect various enchantment materials all over the map.
Logistician Pawns who acquire this skill are the best at organizing the inventories.
Chirurgeon Pawns with this skill are advanced in the art of giving out healing items to Arisen.
Woodland Wordsmith Pawns with this skill understand and translate the complicated language of the Elvish for Arisen.
Aphonite Pawns with this skill will not speak generally, except in a few situations.

How to Give Your Pawn a Specialization

In Dragon’s Dogma 2, Specializations are unique traits that every pawn possesses. There are a total of 5 Specializations in the game, and luckily, you can also change the specialization of your pawn.

Bear in mind that you can only change the specialization of your main pawn and will not be able to alter the specialization of your recruited pawns.

Nevertheless, to give your pawn a new specialization, you will need to get a specialization Tome. There are five different Specialization Tomes, which you can obtain either by increasing your affinity with NPCs or by completing various side quests. While finding some of these Tomes is easy, some can be hard to acquire. In order to make the process easier for you, we’ve listed the procedure of acquiring them in the table below.

Tome

How to Get

Chirurgeon’s Tome

This can be obtained by completing the Medicament Predicament side-quest in Melve.

Woodland Wordsmith Tome

This can be obtained by increasing your affinity with one of the Elves in Sacred Harbor.

Logistician

This can be obtained by completing The Heels of History side quest in Vernworth.

Forager

This can be obtained by completing The Heels of History side quest in Vernworth.

Hawker

This can be obtained by increasing infinity with a trader (Armorer) in Vernwoth.

Once you have obtained any of them, now go into your Inventory. Navigate to the Implementation Tab, select the Tome, and apply it to your Pawn. However, it is important to note that you can only use these Tomes for one time and once you have given your pawns a new Specialization, it will overwrite their previous specializations.

Once you’ve changed the specialization, it’ll immediately take effect. Nevertheless, in order to change the specialization again, players will need to get their hands on another Tome of a different type. You can change the specialization as many times as you want to, provided you’ve required Tomes.
