Dungeons and Dragons has officially revealed more details about its highly-anticipated crossover with Star Wars, confirming multiple releases with the iconic sci-fi franchise. Wizards of the Coast has already teased multiple new crossovers for Dungeons and Dragons on the way.
The beloved tabletop RPG has seen a big year in 2026, with numerous major releases throughout the year. Wizards of the Coast has debuted multiple new sourcebooks for Dungeons and Dragons, including the horror-themed Ravenloft: The Horrors Within and the magic-oriented Arcana Unleashed. Wizards of the Coast has also confirmed a brand-new crossover coming to Dungeons and Dragons to close out the year, launching a World of Warcraft expansion on November 17. Now, one of the game’s biggest collaborations yet is coming in 2027, and Wizards of the Coast is teasing more of its Star Wars crossover.
Dungeons and Dragons Teases Star Wars Crossover
Wizards of the Coast has officially shared more news about Dungeons and Dragons‘ upcoming collaboration with Star Wars. The sci-fi crossover will launch with the Tyro Squadron: Adventures supplement, putting players in the role of a group of Rebels battling against the Empire at the same time as the original trilogy. Dungeons and Dragons confirmed that the Star Wars crossover will come with its own full-fledged rulebook, though no official details about the Star Wars book’s contents were revealed. Wizards of the Coast confirmed that more information about the Star Wars adventure and rulebook will be revealed during Star Wars Celebration in April 2027.
While Dungeons and Dragons did not directly reveal any of its Star Wars content, the rulebook should include plenty of new additions. The Star Wars crossover is expected to introduce multiple classes and species based on the franchise, potentially giving players the option to play as iconic aliens like Wookiees. The collaboration will likely adapt several classic Star Wars weapons like blasters and lightsabers, adapting them for D&D‘s typically fantasy-focused format. Dungeons and Dragons‘ Star Wars collaboration is scheduled to officially release in 2027, though a hard release window has not been confirmed.
Star Wars will be the second entry in the brand-new Universes Beyond initiative for Dungeons and Dragons, following in Magic: The Gathering‘s footsteps. The Wizards of the Coast TCG first introduced its crossover-focused product line in 2021, originally including collaborations with different franchises as Commander Decks and Secret Lairs. Magic eventually moved into creating full sets based around a variety of iconic properties, including wildly successful expansions themed around Final Fantasy and Marvel Super Heroes.
Dungeons and Dragons‘ 2024 revision will launch its first big crossover in November with the debut of its World of Warcraft expansion. The collaboration will bring the world of Azeroth into the tabletop RPG in an official capacity for the first time, allowing players to explore some of the MMORPG’s most beloved dungeons, reimagined in the Dungeons and Dragons format. The crossover will also allow players to square off with iconic enemies from World of Warcraft, recently teasing a D&D boss fight against Illidan Stormrage. The introduction of Universes Beyond into D&D looks to have plenty of exciting content in store.
