Fans of EA-published games should note that time is running out if they want to play Battlefield Hardline multiplayer on consoles. Servers for online video games are shut down on a regular basis, including many titles published by EA. While it’s a shame that so many EA games have been shut down over the years, to its credit, EA does give fans plenty of notice before it pulls the plug. This way, anyone interested in playing these EA games before they’re killed still has the chance to do so.
EA keeps a running list of games it is shutting down and has shut down in the past. As far as 2026 goes, EA has shut down a variety of its games, including a couple of titles from beloved developer BioWare. Anthem was shut down at the beginning of the year, and more recently, the PS3 version of Dragon Age: Inquisition ceased operations. The next EA shutdown is right around the corner, and it will likely disappoint fans of the Battlefield franchise on consoles.

When is Battlefield Hardline Shutting Down?
Battlefield Hardline, the 2015 Battlefield spin-off developed by Visceral Games, will be shutting down on PS4 and Xbox One on Monday, June 22. Battlefield Hardline switched the focus from military battles to police conflicts, offering a significantly different vibe than most games in the series. It earned mixed reviews but still had its fans, and when the PS4 and Xbox One versions shut down on June 22, it will no longer be possible to play the game online on consoles. Battlefield Hardline‘s PS3 and Xbox 360 versions were shut down a couple of years ago, and so after June 22, the only way to play online will be through the PC version. The good news is that Battlefield Hardline diehards will still have some way to play the game online, but the bad news is that the console versions will be permanently shut down from that point forward.

Battlefield Hardline is far from the only Battlefield game EA has shut down. The same day that it shut down the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game back in 2024, it also shut down other Battlefield games, including the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of Battlefield 3 and 4. A year before that, EA shut down Battlefield 1943, Battlefield: Bad Company, and the popular Battlefield: Bad Company 2. While most of EA’s shutdowns tend to be related to its sports and racing games, other genres are clearly not immune.
Unfortunately, Battlefield Hardline isn’t even the only EA-published game that is being shut down in June. A couple of days later, on June 24, Plants vs. Zombies HD for Apple is being shut down. This is unlikely to cause as much disappointment as Battlefield Hardline shuttering its console services, but it may still ruffle some feathers.

If you are someone interested in playing either of these EA games before they are shut down, make sure to do so ASAP. And keep in mind that there will be even more EA shutdowns in the months ahead.
