EA Motive has officially commented on the leaked footage of an Iron Man video game, further confirming its ongoing development. Initially, it was difficult for fans to determine where the Iron Man leak came from, but now the EA studio has owned up to it.
Earlier in August, a leak showed footage of an Iron Man game featuring several minutes of gameplay. The videos quickly went viral on social media, and fans spotted that the files were named AUG26, so players suspected it to be recent footage. Other fans theorized that it could be years-old gameplay from a scrapped Iron Man game from Avalanche Studios. The leak showed off Tony Stark suiting up as Iron Man and flying around an open-world map that seems to be inspired by Chicago. The character is seen using his repulsors to move and shoot at foes in the air. Now, EA Motive has acknowledged the leak and confirmed that it was part of its Marvel’s Iron Man project.
Through a Twitter post from the official Marvel’s Iron Man account, EA Motive recognized that the leak came from its upcoming video game, but it was unintentional. “Well, that didn’t go as planned,” reads the post, evidently referencing the leaked footage. “But now you know, and we’ve got a lot more to show you. See you when we’re ready.” EA Motive and Marvel Games initially announced Marvel’s Iron Man in 2022. Although this is the game’s first-ever post, EA’s official account reposted the tweet, further validating its authenticity. EA Motive is known for developing Dead Space (2023), one of the best horror game remakes of recent years, and also participated in titles such as Battlefield 6 and Star Wars Battlefront 2.
Marvel’s Iron Man‘s post already sits at over 249,000 likes, with fans reacting positively and sharing their excitement for further updates. The official Xbox account responded as well, writing: “We’ll be here.” This could potentially mean that Marvel’s Iron Man could at least launch on Xbox consoles, unlike the PS5 exclusive Marvel’s Wolverine. Very few details have been shared on the Iron Man video game since its announcement, but EA Motive’s website states that it will be a single-player, third-person action title, which aligns with the leaked gameplay.

A job listing from 2025 teased how Marvel’s Iron Man may feature massive single-player levels and customization mechanics. The August 2026 leak showed Tony Stark customizing his suit with different weapons. Additionally, the footage showed familiar Marvel characters such as Pepper Potts and Henry Pym. It remains to be seen whether EA Motive could reveal an official trailer in the near future, potentially during big upcoming gaming events such as The Game Awards.
While there are several games where fans play as Iron Man, EA Motive’s project would be the character’s first starring role in an AAA title. This is not the only highly anticipated Marvel video game in development, though. Players are still waiting for the release date for Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra and a first look at Marvel’s Blade. Then again, the company’s current focus is the ambitious Marvel’s Wolverine, set for launch on September 15, 2026.
