The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time has been revisited countless times over the years, with many fans looking forward to the Ocarina of Time remake on Switch 2, but the story of the Hero of Time is filled with characters who rarely get the same attention as Link, Zelda, and Ganondorf. Even then, that’s true of all the characters that appear in various Legend of Zelda games.
From the people who help Link during his journey to those whose actions quietly influence the events of Hyrule, there are plenty of smaller stories surrounding the games’ central stories in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (and beyond). The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, for example, explores the core story from the perspective of Princess Zelda. And now, The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Hyrule does that from yet another surprising perspective.
The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Hyrule Comes in 2 Editions
A new book explores overlooked NPCs from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time by telling stories from the perspectives of characters who were always present but never received their own spotlight. Echoes of Hyrule, written by Anna-Victòria Teixidó under the name “Kurusonna,” presents these stories in chronological order, beginning even before the events of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and eventually moving beyond Hyrule. Link still appears throughout the stories, but he serves as a thread connecting them rather than their main protagonist.

Echoes of Hyrule is available in two editions, including the standard Deluxe Edition and the more limited Hero of Time Edition. The Deluxe Edition costs €25.95 and includes the 332-page hardcover book, an Ocarina of Time GP Card print, and two exclusive bookmarks, while the Hero of Time Edition costs €35.95 and is limited to Game Press’ website.
The Hero of Time Edition adds several extras to the book, including an Ocarina manual, a character map for its various Legend of Zelda stories, two art prints, two exclusive bookmarks, an Ocarina of Time GP Card, and a numbered certificate. Both editions contain the same 332-page hardcover book, which measures 17 x 24 centimeters and uses thread-sewn binding. Echoes of Hyrule also features a prologue by Carlos Martínez “Seijurou,” interior illustrations by María Lozano “Maiku,” and cover artwork by Víctor Polonio.
Neither edition is an official Nintendo product, with Game Press specifically going out of its way to note that Echoes of Hyrule is not affiliated with Nintendo. Instead, the book offers a fan-created interpretation of characters in Zelda: Ocarina of Time, expanding on the characters and events surrounding the Hero of Time while approaching the familiar adventure from perspectives outside of Link’s own story. Indeed, looking beyond the perspective of Link for a Legend of Zelda story is a novel idea, and seeing it manifested in a book itself makes this release interesting, if not official.
