Elden Ring gamers on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S can look forward to new DLC when the game’s Tarnished Edition lands on Nintendo Switch 2. Elden Ring was a landmark release when it dropped in 2022, earning widespread critical acclaim, selling millions of units, and even winning Game of the Year at The Game Awards. FromSoftware could have left Elden Ring alone after its wildly successful launch, but instead it supported it through free content updates and a massive paid expansion.
Elden Ring‘s Shadow of the Erdtree expansion was just as beloved as the base game, and even managed to get nominated for Game of the Year itself despite being DLC and not a full new release. Elden Ring fans hungry for more shouldn’t hold their breath for another expansion the size of Shadow of the Erdtree, but there is still some new DLC to look forward to in the near future.
FromSoftware’s Rumored Pirate Game Should Definitely Be More Bloodborne Than Elden Ring
Rumors claim that FromSoftware is working on a secret pirate game, and it hopefully takes more notes from Bloodborne than Elden Ring.
Elden Ring DLC Confirmed for August 28
FromSoftware has confirmed that Elden Ring will be getting new DLC on August 28 in the form of the Tarnished Pack. While all the specifics have yet to be revealed, we do know that the Tarnished Pack will include two new classes (Heavy Knight and Knight of Ides), new weapons, skins, and Torrent customization. Some of these new items can be spotted in the Switch 2 trailer for Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition. FromSoftware hasn’t said how much the Tarnished Pack will cost outside of Japan, where it will retail for 550 yen, but the assumption is that it will likely cost about $5.
All the content that makes up the Tarnished Pack will be baked into the Nintendo Switch 2 version of the game. Launching day and date as the Tarnished Pack DLC, Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition brings the open world epic to Switch 2 with that previously mentioned new content, plus the base game and the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion. Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition on Switch 2 costs $79.99, and those that pre-order can get the “Ring Pose” and “Mikela’s Ring” gestures, also obtainable by playing co-op with someone that already has the gestures.

Some Elden Ring fans may be drawn back to the game by the new cosmetic DLC, but others may be anxious to see what’s next from FromSoftware. FromSoftware’s next game is The Duskbloods, a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive that looks like a more multiplayer-focused take on Bloodborne, expected to be released by the end of the year. What’s after that is anyone’s guess.
An Elden Ring movie is on the way, so perhaps FromSoftware will want to capitalize on that with a new Elden Ring game. Alternatively, it could return to one of its other IPs, like Sekiro, Bloodborne, Dark Souls, or Armored Core. But the most likely scenario is that FromSoftware’s next game after The Duskbloods will be something completely new and original, as the developer likes to experiment and establish new IP instead of relying on its established properties. FromSoftware fans can look forward to new Elden Ring DLC on August 28 in the meantime.
