Bandai Namco has given an important piece of advice for players who are struggling with the difficulty of Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree. As players continue to progress through Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, many find it offers some of FromSoftware’s toughest bosses yet.
While the critical response to FromSoftware’s first and only expansion to the 2022 souls-like has been enormously positive, some players are finding Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree too hard, to the point where its Steam reviews have now dropped to “Mixed” in response. Many are discovering that boss fights are massively punishing, with death coming within a couple of hits in some scenarios. Tough boss fights are certainly nothing new to FromSoftware fans, but it seems that Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree has taken this to another level.

In response to player complaints, Bandai Namco has reminded players to level up their Scadutree Blessing in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree. This is a new mechanic in the expansion, which allows players to collect Scadutree Fragments to increase their damage dealt, and reduce their damage received. It’s a simple feature, but as it’s new in Shadow of the Erdtree, many are overlooking its importance and going without. This is making difficult Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree boss fights even harder than they’re designed to be, leading to a ton of frustration in the community. The slight nudge from Bandai Namco to level up the Scadutree Blessing is a very polite way of telling players that they’re playing it wrong.
Bandai Namco Reminds Players To Level Up Scadutree Blessing in Shadow of the Erdtree
Players have several different options for getting and using Scadutree Fragments in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree. Miquella’s Crosses and headless statues of Marika will always have a Scadutree Fragment to pick up, while pot-carrying Shadow Enemies and bosses like the Golden Hippopotamus will drop them as loot after combat. From there, it’s just a case of leveling up the Scadutree Blessing from any Site of Grace, which should make Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree a much less punishing experience.
With Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree now released, it will be interesting to follow what FromSoftware tackles next. Just recently, Hidetaka Miyazaki spoke on future FromSoftware collaborations after George R.R. Martin, confirming the studio would be open to such possibilities. One thing is for sure: after the two-year wait for Shadow of the Erdtree, more Elden Ring DLC is unlikely, with the development of a new game being a much more likely scenario.
