Highlights
- Despite the exciting release of Elden Ring’s DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree may not have new achievements or trophies.
- This has yet to be 100% confirmed, but it’s looking likely.
- Previous FromSoftware DLC also skipped out on new achievements and trophies.
While there’s still some hope, it’s looking increasingly likely that the Elden Ring DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree, will be launching without any new achievements or trophies come its June 21 release date. FromSoftware’s Elden Ring builds on the studio’s previous games by translating the Dark Souls-style experience to a massive open world. It earned rave reviews from critics and stands tall as one of the industry’s highest-rated games ever.
Considering Elden Ring‘s dizzying success, it comes as no surprise that there are many fans eagerly anticipating the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. Elden Ring enthusiasts have been waiting over two years for the open world epic to get its own expansion, but now that we’re getting close to the launch date, some disappointing news has come to light.

Bandai Namco offers Game Rant a chance to go hands-on with Shadow of the Erdtree, the highly anticipated DLC expansion for Elden Ring.
PlayStation Game Size has noted that it seems as though the Elden Ring DLC does not have new trophies, though they weren’t able to make this determination with 100% certainty. If Shadow of the Erdtree doesn’t have new achievements or trophies, it will be disappointing for achievement and trophy hunters, but it’s something that many likely saw coming. FromSoftware has a long history of releasing DLC and expansion packs with no additional achievements or trophies, and so Elden Ring will just be continuing the trend.
Elden Ring DLC Might Not Have Achievements or Trophies
As FromSoftware fans will recall, none of the Dark Souls trilogy DLC had new achievements or trophies. The big exception to the rule is Bloodborne, which added a new set of trophies to claim for anyone willing to brave its tough-as-nails Old Hunters expansion. While there’s still a chance that Elden Ring‘s DLC will follow in Bloodborne‘s footsteps by adding new achievements and trophies for fans to unlock, it doesn’t seem as though that will be the case. Fans will ultimately find out for sure one way or another when the Shadow of the Erdtree release date rolls around on June 21.
Even if Shadow of the Erdtree doesn’t add any new achievements or trophies for Elden Ring fans to unlock, the expansion will still have plenty to offer. Shadow of the Erdtree is giving Elden Ring fans a huge new area to explore, plus at least 10 new bosses to fight. There are likely many secrets waiting to be uncovered in the DLC as well, so fans shouldn’t worry about getting their money’s worth come June 21.
