Enshrouded 1.0 recently went live, and with it, a bunch of great new gameplay systems and overhauls to make the experience that much more fun. Whether it’s the new combat or skill tree, Enshrouded has ushered in its 1.0 launch with a bang. One of the best new features of all, though, is Sparkworks. Enshrouded was already known as a great game for building bases, but Sparkworks takes this mechanic to the next level by allowing players to turn building into an in-depth playground filled with potential.
There are a lot of great modern survival games out there that do base-building justice, but Enshrouded‘s motto of “build without limits” is truly taken to heart by the dev team at Keen Games. Enshrouded allows a wild amount of freedom, and that free-loving spirit is a core piece of its DNA that has continued to draw in players since the early access period launched over two years ago. The building system was already fantastic, but Sparkworks takes the mechanic and elevates it in an incredibly satisfying and clever way.
Enshrouded’s Sparkworks System Turns Base-Building Into a Puzzle Adventure
With the new Sparkworks system, Enshrouded players have the ability to add even more to bases by turning builds into interactive puzzles and traps. Instead of a run-of-the-mill base, players can now craft dungeons, arenas, and parkour obstacle courses with the tools that this special Enshrouded 1.0 feature brings to the table via features like pressure plates and levers. Enshrouded‘s ability to let players transform the game’s terrain however they see fit was already impressive to begin with, but fans who have wanted even more from the building mechanics now have a new branch of the system to dive into.

Put the consoles in the correct order.
The Basics of How Enshrouded’s Sparkworks Works
- Inputs: This includes things like pressure plates, levers, and buttons, which start a reaction.
- Logic: Rules that signal what effects the Inputs have on the other moving parts.
- Outputs: This function reacts to the rules determined by the Inputs and Logic.
Through this, players can really let their imagination run wild when it comes to building something special in Enshrouded. Trap doors, lever-controlled contraptions, and various buttons mean that players can turn their bases into a fun, interactive puzzle for other players to check out or use the Sparkworks system to make a trap to catch friends off guard. A game with good base-building freedom is one thing, but Sparkworks has shown a side of this gameplay mechanic that needs to become a new standard in the survival genre.
What makes Sparkworks even better is that players can also share their creations with other Enshrouded fans. Sparkworks is integrated with the game’s Adventure Sharing feature. For those who are new to Enshrouded, Adventure Sharing allows players to check out what other fans in the community have created.
Instead of simply being a base-builder, Enshrouded has also now become a dungeon-builder. Sure, using Sparkworks might not be the best fit for every single player who loves the Enshrouded building mechanics, but it’s a great new option that heavily appeals to a specific corner of the game’s building community. Sparkworks is a fantastic example of how one central mechanic can become multifaceted in order to appeal to a variety of different player tastes.
In Order to Use Sparkworks in Enshrouded, First Players Have to Find It
Sparkworks isn’t a mechanic that Enshrouded fans can experience from the start. It’s a tool, so it has to be unlocked before players can utilize the system for building bases. Even though there is a little bit of extra work involved in finding Sparkworks in Enshrouded, unlocking it is actually pretty simple.
How to Find Sparkworks in Enshrouded
- First, make sure that the Carpenter NPC, Cade Hawthorn, has been unlocked.
- Unlocking Cade grants access to the Contraptions & Mechanisms quest.
- Accepting the quest unlocks a Night Sanctum in Revelwood.
- The Night Sanctum can only be entered at nighttime.
- Once inside, players have to make it through various puzzles and obstacles.
- After that, a golden chest can be found, which unlocks the Sparkworks crafting recipe.
The most challenging part of the entire quest is surviving the Night Sanctum obstacles, but getting to the Sparkworks chest is still pretty straightforward. Puzzles in Enshrouded are pretty forgiving, so players who are eager to add Sparkworks to their building toolset don’t really have much to worry about.
So, whether you’re a newcomer needing Enshrouded beginner tips or a fan who has been with the survival RPG since the first days of early access, Sparkworks is something worth adding to the gameplay experience if building fun dungeons or puzzles is something that interests you. There have been plenty of games with good puzzle mechanics over the years, but Enshrouded now puts the power in players’ hands to add their own contraptions and inventive ideas to the game’s landscape.
