Epic Games Reportedly Working on ARC Raiders-Style Extraction Shooter With Disney Characters

A new report indicates that Epic Games is working with Disney to create an ARC Raiders-style extraction shooter. The claims also indicate that players may not have long to wait before they get an opportunity to try out the Epic Games Disney project, but there are still some remaining questions.

Epic and Disney gained a lot of attention back in 2024, when Disney made a $1.5 billion investment in Epic Games. While Disney has seen a number of game partnerships and releases, such as the popular Disney Dreamlight Valley, the partnership has been considered to be Disney’s biggest step into gaming yet. Disney and Epic Games are working towards creating a “transformational new game and entertainment universe,” according to the CEO of Disney. Two years later, some of the details regarding the projects that Epic and Disney have been working on are now coming to light.

Rumor: Disney Considering Buying Epic Games

Some Disney executives reportedly have their eye on owning Epic Games, bringing Fortnite and Unreal Engine under the Disney banner.

Disney and Epic Extraction Shooter Underway

According to a new report from Bloomberg, Disney and Epic could be launching their new game as early as November of this year. This has been alleged by four current and former workers speaking with Bloomberg. The new game will reportedly be similar to ARC Raiders, with players taking the role of Disney characters who have to engage in battle until they can reach an extraction point. Not much else is known about the game project at this time, like the characters that players will have access to, or what enemies they might be facing. It’s also not yet clear if this will be a standalone game or folded in as part of Fortnite.

With that said, some further details were hinted at in the report. The ARC Raiders-style shooter has apparently been criticized by internal reviewers who have said that the game is “not very original,” but others have expressed that they think Epic Games will get it right by the time it’s ready to release. Beyond the ARC Raiders-style extraction shooter, the Epic Games Disney deal will also see two additional games. The claims also indicated that the second game had received “middling” internal reviews, with some workers moved from the third game to the second in order to try and boost it. However, the Senior Director of Communications at Epic shared a statement in response to these claims, which said: “This is not reflective of the ambitions of the Disney collaboration. We are building a new games and entertainment universe of Disney experiences.”

Given Disney’s large investment, there’s a lot riding on this partnership with Epic Games. The release of this untitled Disney game is likely a big deal for Epic, as the company has seen some turbulent times recently. Earlier in 2026, Epic Games announced layoffs of around a thousand people, including the artist who designed Jonesy, and an employee with terminal cancer. That was followed by the announcement that three game modes would be shut down in Fortnite.

If a Disney game or Disney-Fortnite experience turns out to be a big success, that would be tremendously beneficial for both companies. With a release potentially arriving in November, players may be able to expect to see some teasers for the game in the near future that could help to further clarify exactly what kind of game it will be.
