The Epic Games Store has officially announced its final free games for August 2026: Rival Stars Horse Racing: Desktop Edition and a returning title previously offered in 2023. The pair will be available to claim until early September 2026 while bringing the total value of Epic Games Store’s August freebies to over $215.
Epic ran three standalone giveaways over the first 20 days of August 2026, starting with 100% discounts on Sol Cesto and OTXO from July 30 to August 6. That promotion was followed by another seven-day Epic Games Store giveaway featuring Beacon Pines and We Were Here Together, before Caravan SandWitch became temporarily free to claim on August 13.

Epic’s Caravan SandWitch officially giveaway wrapped up on August 20, with the company staying true to its typical cadence by immediately announcing its next-week promo, which will center on Rival Stars Horse Racing: Desktop Edition and Breathedge. The two titles will be free to claim from August 27 at 8 a.m. PDT / 11 a.m. EDT / 5 p.m. CEST until the same time on September 3.

A Brief Intro to Breathedge
Developed by UAE-based RedRuins Softworks, Breathedge is a 2021 first-person survival game centered on exploring the wreckage of a massive space disaster. Players scavenge materials in zero gravity to craft tools, equipment, vehicles, and upgrades that help them survive and reach more distant areas. Exploration gradually unlocks new locations and story content, while base building and improved transportation expand the range of safely accessible wreckage. The sci-fi title with over 5,300 “Mostly Positive” reviews on Steam and a 4.4-star on the Epic Games Store was previously free on the latter platform from April 27 through May 24, 2023. In more recent history, Breathedge was given away to Steam users in the first half of August 2026.
Immediately preceding the Breathedge and Rival Stars Horse Racing giveaway is Epic’s newly launched 100% discount on Cardpocalypse,, which went live on August 20. The whimsical RPG-CCG hybrid is the second indie card game Epic has given away in just a few weeks, following Foretales, which was free from July 23 to 30.
