Epic Games Store Officially Reveals Its Free Games for September 24

The Epic Games Store has officially announced two free games for September 24, with the upcoming duo including a first-time freebie called Mechabellum. The other one is a 2023 title that Epic Games Store users were already able to claim once, but only for a single day years ago.

The returning title arrives in the form of Astrea: Six-Sided Oracles, which was the Epic Games Store’s mystery game back in December 2024. A deck-building roguelite developed by Brazilian studio Little Leo Games, Astrea launched to strong reviews, as reflected in its 87 average score on OpenCritic and 88% positive rating on Steam, based on over 1,000 player reviews.

Astrea is now set to return as an Epic Games Store freebie on September 24, though this time for a full week. It will be available alongside sci-fi mech auto-battler Mechabellum, which will be making its EGS freebie debut on the same day. Both will be claimable until October 1 at 8 a.m. PT / 11 a.m. ET / 5 p.m. CET. The September 24 giveaway is valued at $39.98, based on the full retail prices of the included titles.

A Brief Introduction to Mechabellum, Epic’s Upcoming Freebie

Mechabellum‘s core gameplay loop centers on buying mechs, positioning them on the battlefield, selecting upgrades, and watching them fight automatically. Between rounds, players can adjust their forces to counter an opponent’s army composition and positioning. The auto-battler supports competitive 1v1 and 2v2 multiplayer, four-player free-for-all matches, and solo and co-op PvE battles. Although it has not received enough professional reviews to qualify for an OpenCritic score, Mechabellum has amassed more than 19,400 “Very Positive” player reviews on Steam since its 2024 launch. It does not yet have an Epic Games Store user rating because it is only launching on the platform on September 25.

Astrea: Six-Sided Oracles will add to the growing list of roguelites that the Fortnite maker has given away since late July 2026, when OTXO and Sol Cesto were free on the Epic Games Store. Since then, the weekly EGS giveaways have also featured Astral Ascent and Shogun Showdown, with the latter only becoming available earlier today, September 17. The ongoing giveaway also features trippy detective game Mindcop.
