April is closing out on some big games that seem to be living up to the hype. Our own review of Saros said Housemarque’s now collected lightning in a bottle twice, following up Returnal with this latest run at the shooter roguelike genre. The way Saros sands off some of Returnal‘s rougher edges might prove divisive, but I’ve been enjoying the trade-offs so far. And Saros is far from the only notable game release this week.
We’re also getting Diablo 4‘s second expansion, Lord of Hatred. The action-RPG’s third new class, Warlock, will go live alongside the fresh campaign to take down Mephisto. Some early reviews are calling it the series’ best new story content in a minute. I’m excited to check it out along with everyone else when servers go live for the new DLC on Tuesday.
But players should also have their eyes on two other releases this week. One is Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era, which had one of Steam’s most played demos last fall and brings back the fantasy strategy franchise after an 11-year hiatus. The other is Forbidden Solitaire, a card-based dungeon crawler that mixes horror and fantasy with a lost 1995 CD-ROM game vibe.
