New Pokemon Variants Are Appearing in Pokemon Pokopia

Beyond returning favorites, Pokopia is introducing new Pokemon variants, though not entirely new species (so far). These variants continue the modern Pokemon trend of alternate forms instead of direct evolutionary lines. Four have been revealed so far that match the whimsical, cozy tone Pokopia will strive for.

Peakychu

Somehow, a cuter Pikachu is possible. This critter is a pale version of Pikachu with drooping ears and a softer appearance. Its typing hasn’t been confirmed, but it may be a Ghost Pokemon based on appearance alone.

Professor Tangrowth

Professor Tangrowth is the equivalent of Tom Nook in Animal Crossing or Mayor Lewis in Stardew Valley. This Pokemon variant is the player’s guide while they restore the island. Apparently, they have been living alone for quite some time.

Mosslax

This Snorlax variant is covered in moss, complete with a flower growing on the very top of its head. This design is appropriate for its setting: suggesting a long-abandoned world and its critters reclaiming themselves.

Smearguru

This Pokemon is a vibrant Smeargle variant covered in colorful paint splashes. It appears to lean into an artistic aesthetic that best matches the cozy gaming vibes.
