Pokemon Winds and Waves have been announced as the next chapter in the series, but they won’t be released before 2027, meaning that Gen 9’s lifespan is being increased once more. This will make the gap between Pokemon Winds and Waves and Pokemon Scarlet and Violet the longest it has ever been, at about five years, depending on the final release date for the next set of games. For those curious about where the series is headed next, a recent leak can provide a good idea of what kind of games are being worked on and when they may end up on store shelves, assuming it is a trustworthy leak.
Based on the leak, which was shared by Centro Leaks, there are four projects currently in the works at Game Freak’s studio, and two more in the pipeline. Some previously popular projects are apparently missing, hinting that there may be no Gen 5 remakes after Pokemon Winds and Waves, or even before, for example. This is not guaranteed, as Game Freak may decide to outsource Pokemon remakes to other developers, as it did with Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, but it doesn’t seem very likely. As such, fans may have a long wait ahead until the next big thing drops.
Pokemon Winds and Waves’ Map Leaks Online
Basically Pokemon Winds and Waves’ entire region has leaked online, with fans piecing together new places in the Gen 10 region.
Every Pokemon Game and DLC Leaked So Far
Based on the leak, the projects Game Freak is actively working on and those that are in very early stages are:
- Pokemon Winds and Waves (Full production) — This is the only set of games on the list that has been officially announced, but recent leaks state that Pokemon Winds and Waves will launch in late 2027. The original prediction was that they would come in 2026 to celebrate the series’ 30th anniversary, but they were announced for 2027 in their reveal trailer. Then, several sources claimed that Gen 10 would come late in 2027, presumably in October or November.
- Pokemon Pokopia DLC (Full production) — Seeing the smashing success of Pokemon Pokopia on Switch 2, it’s no wonder that a DLC will come out. Based on the TeraLeak, it seems that all future Pokemon games will be planned with at least one DLC in mind, and Pokopia is no exception. The TeraLeak also mentioned a few areas for Pokopia‘s DLC to explore, but it remains to be seen. It’s likely that this project will come between the end of 2026 and early 2027.
- Pokemon Winds and Waves DLC (Full production) — Again, due to an internal decision, Gen 10 will inevitably have its own DLC. This is most likely a 2028 release, though.
- New Pokemon Legends Game (Full production) — The TeraLeak included early concepts and leaks for Pokemon Legends Galar, a new game in this series that explores the Galar region very far back in time. Players will allegedly command small hordes of Pokemon to defeat rampant Dynamax pocket monsters across the region. This game will most likely be released in late 2028 at the earliest and early 2030 at the latest.
- Pokemon Project Seed (Pre-production) — This game was also mentioned in the TeraLeak as a possible MMO Pokemon game spanning the regions of Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, and Sinnoh. This game may feature procedurally generated Pokemon, based on early concepts in the TeraLeak, but this is subject to change because it was originally conceived as part of Gen 10. Seeing how this title is reportedly in pre-production, it may not be released before 2031.
- Pokemon Gen 11 (Pre-production) — Last but not least, Gen 11 is confirmed to be conceptualized, at the very least, if the leak is true. The TeraLeak stopped at Gen 10 projects, so this is entirely new territory, and nothing is known about it. Considering Gen 10’s release in 2027, Gen 11 may be slated for 2031 or 2032.

Game Freak’s Pokemon Release Schedule for Gen 10 Explained
With this in mind, it’s easy to see how busy the schedule will be for Game Freak in the coming years, but it’s unclear how much of what was found in the 2025 Pokemon TeraLeak is truly accurate. This is because the documents were leaked in 2025, but they had data up to 2024, so several things may have changed in the meantime. Pokemon Winds and Waves‘ titles were left untouched, and several early concepts seem to have made it into the final build, if the reveal trailer is any indication.
However, details about Pokemon Legends Galar’s gameplay are up in the air after several years, and the setting itself is not guaranteed. If this new leak about games in production at Game Freak is true, and assuming it’s more recent than the TeraLeak documents, it would confirm that a Pokemon MMO game is being worked on, even if it ends up not revolving around the Japanese regions.
Pokemon Winds and Waves and Pokemon Pokopia‘s DLC are basically confirmed even without official mentions, but it’s unclear what they might involve. Pokopia may have some details online if previous leaks are true, but it remains to be seen. Last but not least, Gen 11 was always a matter of when rather than if, so its presence on the list feels like a given.
