Fable fans may have to wait a little bit longer to check out the new chapter after it got pushed back to early 2027, but having to sit through a few more months in order to make sure the game is as strong as possible is worth it. There has been a lot of anticipation surrounding Fable. The franchise has become one of Xbox’s most notable exclusives over the years, and it’s been a really long time since there was a new mainline entry in the series.

Developer Playground Games has been working hard on the project, but Fable has been delayed multiple times now. That has only built the anticipation and made a lot of longtime fans even more eager. Even though the wait has been extended, there is a silver lining for hardcore Xbox lovers. The recent Xbox Games Showcase unveiled the Xbox Series X25, a limited-edition version of the console to help celebrate the company’s 25th anniversary. It may not appeal to every gamer, but pairing the console with Fable could be the perfect fit for fans who want to take the ultimate dive into nostalgia.

Xbox Adding New Flexible Game Pass Options

It appears that Microsoft’s flagship gaming subscription service, Xbox Game Pass, could receive more flexible options as soon as summer 2026.

Fable and the Xbox Series X25 Are Perfect for Each Other

  • The Xbox Series X25 comes out November 2026.
  • Fable launches on February 23, 2027.

There were plenty of games that made this year’s Xbox Games Showcase exciting, but the Xbox Series X25 announcement was a fun surprise for those who love limited-edition hardware. The special anniversary console is the same shape as the Xbox Series X, but this version is a translucent version that is covered in Xbox’s signature green tint instead of the available black and white paint jobs.

It’s not a necessary purchase, especially for those who already have an Xbox Series X, but it looks incredibly cool. This version of the console is meant for the most passionate Xbox lovers, and many of them are likely to be longtime Fable fans, too. Fable is the first entry in the series to forego its status as a major Xbox exclusive game, but its home is still found under the company’s umbrella. It’s still an Xbox Game Studios-published title, so playing it on a Series X or S is just going to feel right.

The Xbox Series X25’s Design Speaks for Itself

The original Xbox came out in 2001, so the translucent design of the Series X25 makes perfect sense. The early 2000s were a time when translucent electronics were everywhere, and this is something that Xbox has continued to embrace even beyond the trend’s height. Official translucent Xbox controllers still hit the shelves occasionally. The heyday of see-through devices may be over, but the Xbox Series X25’s design is a fun reminder of the console’s beginnings.

Xbox has yet to reveal how much the Xbox Series X25 will cost.

Fable Isn’t the Only Game That’s Going to Make Playing the Xbox Series X25 Feel Awesome

Veteran Xbox fans are being set up to get a triple dose of nostalgia. Between July’s Halo: Campaign Evolved, Gears of War: E-Day‘s release date in October, and Fable being one of the first big launches of 2027, there is a lot for Xbox followers to celebrate. These franchises make up the bulk of major Xbox franchises, and booting each one up on the anniversary console is bound to be a cool feeling.

There are a lot of games coming to Xbox in 2026 that are going to be fun to experience on the Xbox Series X25. A great game and a cool-looking console just hit differently, and diving into Xbox’s staple franchises like Fable is going to be even more satisfying.
